I thought this was the most appropriate place on hipforums to bring this query, just as it's a place where healthy eating is discussed and I couldn't find a more suitable place really.

Basically I am not vegetarian or vegan, though I dislike eating any meats that are disgustingly processed like fast food burgers etc and prefer mainly veg and less fatty greasy stuff. I'll eat real chicken breast or tuna or whatever, just not sausages and all the kinds of meats that have basically been played with in factories.

I gave up smoking about 15-16 weeks ago and it was a success. I'm no longer a smoker after a 5 year habit, and nowadays I feel so much cleaner and healthier just knowing how bad for me it actually was. I also gave up drinking coffee and all caffine recently as it doesn't do the body any good (ironic due to my username i know), and my diet has improved drastically because of this realisation in the past few months.

Now I feel like I want to do a detox just cos I never have, though I'm not sure exactly how to begin/go about it. I know people do it to better their health (obviously) so does anyone know how to do a proficient detox without damaging their system? Because my bf's mum did this monthly one once which was meant to be really good but she got ill from it. The last thing I want is badness for my body, so exactly how to do a good, healthy, effective detox anyone? I'm sure a lot of you know. Thanks :)

WELL DETOXING YOU CAN SIMPLY TRY A DETOX TEA OR ANY HERBAL \DETOX, BUT THE MOST EFFICIENT I THINK IS A FAST damn caps sorry
a water or water & juice fast, 7 tomaybe 12 days should do it, fasting is hard the 1st 4 days then gets easier
after a few days you notice a fuzzy yellow coat on your tongue, it looks freaky & might make you think somethings wrong, but that yellow coat is your detox indicator, that will go away whenyour body is free of toxins
another lil warningm you wont shit anymorem for quite a few days, but theres a chance that..probly about day 9..youll get a..well how to put this delicately...the toxic crap will just flush from yur system...suddenly.. ok..i'll just say ya might..slime yourself..lol its fgross yea but part of the process..might take a few more days up to maybe 12 before your free of toxins completely, but soon as the yellow leaves your tongue yur pire as can be
breaking a fast requires care though
start off with very easy to digest stuff, small portions, alittle brown rice & steammed veggies..or thin soup, overcooked even to make it extra mushy
dont make the mistake imade my 1st fast & breakit with a huge ethiopian feast, or you wont be able tomove for days.lol

maybe thats too intence for ya & a simpler detox like herbal blends with bladder wrack & goldenseal & garlic & ginger & other blood bowel & general system purifiers would be better

or like i mentioned theres a tea simply called detox tea that i hear is fairly good

Yeah, fasting is a great way to detox. But if you don't want to do that, buy a comprehensive detox kit-- one that works your colon, liver, kidneys, blood stream, lungs and stomach. You can get kits that are for anywhere in between one day and two months. I did a two week kit a while ago and it was the perfect amount of time for what I needed.

And if you don't want to do that, then just temporarily switch to a vegan diet, and cut out gluten, oats, and any sort of unnatural or processed ingredients. Also add fiber to your diet, and drink lots of detox tea, as soaringeagle said. Yogi brand makes a tasty one.

Most importantly, drink a ton of water.

I would just start by exercising regularly, drinking a lot of water, and eating a balanced diet low in refined carbs and fried foods. Exercise improves your circulation and respiratory function, helping to eliminate all kinds of stuff from your body. Your body is wonderfully adapted to clean and purify itself with proper nutrition and activity. Good luck!
