just thoght i would share w/ yall! ive been washing as needed, which has been roughly once/week with bronner, and wearing a bandana all the time like this: anyways heres the vid!!
Awesome!! The picture's great, the video's excellent! Your dreads look like they are coming along wonderfully...... They are only 3 1/2 weeks? just awesome!
this forum is full of such positivity. and yea, only three weeks! i put a lot of energy into them all the time also: do you think i shoul or should not wear the bandana?? for the skae of the dreads
yes it is positive. i never wore anything on mine, but i backcombed. everything just tightened up on it's own. i haven't palmrolled in ages. did you backcomb at all?
yes i did backcomb the ones that are really solid right now, but not the whole head. i am thinking about back combing more in the un-tangled parts, but the natural progression is very aesthetically satisfying at this moment. back combing is cool in my opinion, it gives you control over them and makes you the author of your own hair
what's funny is after i backcombed, mine were unkempt too. i really liked the look. then one day (about 9 months in) out of curiousity i decided to crochet a few ends to see if i'd like it. well....it was really fun crocheting the ends and loose hairs and i liked the way they looked, so now my dreads are the way they are today
very interesting. i have a lot of interest in the crochet method cause it really really gets them tightened up looking, but im wondering if that would be a good path for me or not. maybe ill decide in november, which will be my 2 month point, do you think ill be able to achieve good results by crocheting come november? where do you see my dreads going?
it's hard to say where i see your dreads going since they are still fairly new. i know when i crocheted mine, they were already already pretty solid, so i basically just tidied up the loose hairs. here is a pic of mine at 2 months... and then at 3 months (you can see all the loose hairs) then now at 10 months all tidied up and much fatter..
ohhh. looks good. i see what you are saying now, they develop just fine without crocheting, but to tuck in some of the whispy stuff and make them more clean, less random flyaways etc, you crochet to clean up and tuck stuff in
looking awesome!! your really really cute lol but ive told you that already im really impressed at how well the backcombed parts are staying in. yours are the first really short dreads ive seen that ive thought looked really nice. the bandana shouldnt hurt them. ive worn mine up or wrapped back almost every day since day one and i havnt noticed any effect. ive started crocheting a friends dreads to get all the loose hairs in. i think it would be hard unless your dreads are established. his are 7 months old. i like the way neat, crocheted locks look and have considered it for mine, but i like how random my hair is and i like the knowledge that its doing what it wants with little intervention from me. so its all a matter of personal preference, but id just like to say that you look awesome with messy, random dreadies
