Don't you hate when you KNOW that you have things a million times better than most yet you still want to complain? When, even though you know life is great and all, you still think the universe is out to get you even if you simply had a mildly bad day? Ugh, cramps, school, nightmares, anxiety and fighting with your love is never fun.. but I have it so much better than so many people. Why can't I just slap myself and tell myself to get over it? It's just so.. pointless.. but I still can't crawl out of this hole I've been in for what feels like ages. Grrrrr.

Yeah, I heard that's a good idea when you're depressed.

I never understood really why you can't complain about your personal life and surroundings if other peoples life conditions are much worse. If you don't complain and face your troubles they will stay and bothering you. There's always place for improvement if there's an urge for. Facing your concerns sometimes is best by getting it out first.

The title of this thread is the exact reason i was depressed for like a year of my life and then never was depressed again after that. I love the way my mind works like that because when i was depressed, my mind just registered that the state of mind i was in was pointless so i just kept thinking of the positives in life and how lucky i am to live and with that attitude all the time life kicks ass.

you really just have to be positive. you can't dwell on painful shit. that is to say, don't ignore your suffering... just compartmentalize, and cope with it when the time is right. it's hard to put yourself out there when you're depressed. you don't want to get out of the house, even though that's what's best for you. if you can't bring yourself to hang out with people, at least go spend time in nature or with animals. pick up a hobby and surround yourself with things that you find beautiful. appreciate the sky and the universe that you are a part of... get out of your own head. depression is a very self-centered thing. i was depressed for years and years and i finally discovered that all i had to do was stop thinking so much about my stinkin' self.
