Ok so like the title says please don't flame me for this, but I have a stupid question from the wife... She's pregnant and just started smoking pot before we sealed the deal. She now is having some rough times at work and with my reccent luck in finding a connection she is asking if she can smoke. I don't know where to look to find unbiased information on smoking marijuana while pregnant. She is due in January so she's past some of the most critical times, but deffinately not all. Any advise on where to find info would be appreciated. Thanks
article from cannabis culture http://www.cannabisculture.com/articles/1375.html baby center.com http://www.babycenter.com/400_is-it...5155_1000.bc?Ad=com.bc.common.AdInfo@1b152f89 you decide. The truth is always in the middle of the opposing sides. For what it is worth my college psych prof (a well established PHD) said there was no sign of an impact on the child positive or negative.
from any information I can find, you shouldn't smoke while pregnant or breastfeeding other than, that I don't have anything to tell ya
just found this http://www.medicalcannabis.com/pregnancy.htm like many things involving marijuana, it seems too political filled for you to find a definite answer, you just have to trust what sounds more logical to you..
My mom smoked pot while pregnant with me and all of my siblings. After I told this to a hippie I have known a long time and a very brilliant man, he said to me, "Well, is your dick tiny?" And I am like, "No." and he's like, "There ya go thats all that could happen." So um, no I'm fine thanks. No abnormalities, I'm a natural athlete and the rest of my family is too. I asked my mom if she was nervous because she smoked and she was like yeah. But, very healthy family.
I have never seen anything against marijuana usage while pregnant other than the carcinogenic intake common to smoking anything. But then again, the devolpment of a child during pregnancy is not fully known, especially in regards to psychological effects. On psychological terms, however, perhaps the use of marijuana as a stress reliever would yield beneficial effects on the child, if anything. If she wanted to smoke as a one time thing I would say that's fine. If she wanted to smoke more often I would just advise that she use a vaporizor or edibles.
As much as we all love the herb, it's still a drug. There's no absolute answer to that question, so why take the risk? I mean really, this is your child we're talking about here, IMO she should buck up, grab some ben and jerry's and take some time off.
I wouldn't recommend any drugs during pregnancy. Maybe LSD because the baby must get pretty bored down there lol
But think of the other perspective. Stress has been proven to have negative effects on a child's development during pregnancy; if using marijuana reduced her stress it could very likely help the child as well.
Plus, if you read some of more previous posts you'd realize we could not afford for her to take time off work. Ben and Jerrys yes, but not time off. I don't want to risk it, but I also hate to see her soo stressed and in pain. But as always I will not tell her what to do either way I'll let her make the decision.
No man I ment time off from smoking. I'm no expert, but I do know that THC binds to fat cells, and there's lots of fat in milk. Whether it's still active then I don't know, I guess you should look that up somewhere.
When I was pregnant some of my friends asked me to smoke with them. I turned them down of course, but it didn't even phase them to think of smoking during pregnancy. The sister of one of these people has been a pot head for over 20 years, and one of her children is autistic. I'm not surprised! I was pregnant for 9 months, and breastfed for 12 months after that. I did start drinking wine here and there during the latter part, but I would NEVER smoke pot, or drink during pregnancy. My baby came out a perfect 8lb 8oz, and she's never had one single ailment. Read this: Marijuana use during pregnancy also increases the risks for birth defects in the baby. Doctors advise pregnant women not to use any drugs because they might harm the growing fetus. Marijuana use has been linked to loss of the fetus very early in pregnancy in some animal studies. Some studies in humans have found that babies born to marijuana users were shorter, weighed less, and had smaller head sizes than those born to mothers who did not use the drug. Smaller babies are more likely to develop health problems. Some studies have found effects of marijuana that resemble the features of fetal alcohol syndrome. There are also research findings that show nervous system problems in children of mothers who smoked marijuana. Researchers are not certain whether a newborn baby`s health problems, if they are caused by marijuana, will continue as the child grows. Preliminary research shows that children born to mothers who used marijuana regularly during pregnancy may have difficulty concentrating. After birth, if a nursing mother uses marijuana, some of the harmful ingredient in marijuana (THC) is passed to the baby in her breast milk. This is a matter for concern, since the THC in the mother`s milk is much more concentrated than that in the mother`s blood. The use of marijuana by a mother during the first month of breastfeeding can impair the infant`s motor development (control of muscle movement). Thus, the combination of alcohol and marijuana risk poses significant risks for the unborn fetus of the mother at 5 months gestation. Please encourage your friend to seek help and stop using alcohol and marijuana. She will need support and encouragement to be successful. I will include a website for further information to help you.
I would say if she's going to use marijuana, she should eat it rather than smoke it. Smoking ANYTHING while pregnant is not beneficial and is most likely harmful to the lil' bun in the oven.
Where exactly did you find this article? Because it stated a few things which I'm certain are quite false. Not to sound biased, but I don't think this article is credible.
Any drugs during pregnancy I'd say most people would recommend against, but smoking moderatly if you're going to do anything is probably one of the safer things you can do. Also though if your wife decides that she doesn't want to smoke while she's pregnant for the baby's health, I think you should join her for those months, it's a nice show of solidarity
I've known people who've smoked while pregnant and their kids turned out fine. They were just really chill babies.
I found this article at this website. http://www.netwellness.org/question.cfm/11035.htm Copyright ® 2007 University of Cincinnati Figure it out for yourself. I don't think you'll get ANY doctor to give you the thumbs up on smoking pot during pregnancy.
^ lmao yeah, pretty much all of my friends moms have smoked weed during a pregnancy, they turned out fine (by some standards lol)... i think itd be fine. granted, eating or vaporizing is probably a better option. be careful with whatever you decide to do though man, better safe than sorry- you dont get a second chance.
