I need to write an essay of 2000 words on the culture, 'Hippies'. I did some research and found this forum. I hope you peeps will be able to help me! Title: What makes you stand out in a crowd? Who will be able to help? Love and Peace!
well I'm ALWAYS wearing tie dye, and a bandana. I'm usually shirtless and barefoot. I constantly reek of patchouli and marijuana... hmmm what else.... oh right I have long hair.... god damn it.
I'd say physical aspects-long hair, dreads, style. People recognize me as a hippie due to my constant happiness and need for peace and all of the big goals I have to make our world a better place
What, I believe, makes me stand out as one of this subculture is: The mountain of stuff I take to the public recycling bin..and then being seen fumbling about trying to get at the used coloured shopping bag bin so I can finish the handle on my new recycled tote bag. When I'm seen choosing organic product or shopping in places of consciousness. When I'm seen being completely comfortable in a multicultural environment. When I'm at city hall or on the steps of the court house, protesting something. When I kick you in the ass for garbage on the ground. When I'm spinning fire or banging on some drums (which actually forms the crowd as opposed to just standing out ) Something I think you're going to have to consider as you explore is - What makes one stand out in the context of the subculture or to other people's eyes? How they dress or how they act? I'll think you'll find action rather prized in this particular subculture.
thanks for the giggle i personally do not understand coming to a forum , registering n all that just to find the answer to your school assignment, when it woulda been quiker to actually do your own work instead of having other people do this for you but...... to answer, my upbeat silliness, my dreads n there various styles , my way of dress, my ability to get along well with and interract with minorities within community... my mouth is quite foul and my lack of the southern drawl,,,, most things about me draws attention if i really think about it
