has anyone tried hypnosis? i'm trying to let go of some deeply burried crap and it seems like that might be a good option for me. just a lot of negative messages, baggage, and garbage that i picked up when i was young and seem to be having a hard time releasing, even though i'm pretty sure of it's source.

My father tried hypnosis while sleeping (he used a taped recording of a dude's voice saying certain words). It helped him fight cigarette cravings until he quit.

I tried that too! That along with a bit of shiatsu to quit smoking... worked really well...

To get rid of deep seated stuff I personally would try psychotherapy, you keep talking till it comes out. It's got a bit of a bad rep because many people don't like freud, but he had some great ideas and psychotherapy does bring up a lot of forgotten emotions and opens your mind up to yourself...but that's opinion.

Personally I have a pretty bad view of hypnotherapy, you're in an elevated state of consciousness, you still allow or deny feelings to surface. The therapist can't open your mind like a book, defense mechanisms are still in place, and further it doesn't work on everyone!

i did try psychotherapy. for 10+ years. "enhanced" with prozac, recommended by my theapist. and it didn't work for me. at all. i mean, it really did not work for me at all! i actualy think it made things worse. dependency was subtly encouraged, my attempts at positive changed were discouraged. i was told there was xyz "disorder" and i would get well, but "not now". i'm sure much of that had a lot to do with the incompetence of the therapist and the failings of the system within the clinic where i was going, but to be honest, i didn't show a bit of progress until i quit. and i will never, ever, get those 10 years back. when i quit i dropped the drugs and went through a sort of "pscyche detox" period. then i went and picked my own private counsellor (fuck the clinic!)elsewhere. unfortunately the non-profit organization that ran her counselling center closed it, and she is no longer practicing.

i'm seeing a different counsellor now (it's been quite awhile since i started this post) who uses a mediation-based approach influenced by zen. seems to be helping.

I am a hypnotherapist. Hypnotherapy is a most satisfactory way of removing deep seated difficulties. The challenge is to find an excellent hypnotherapist because like every profession, there are good, not so good, bad and seriously bad hypnotherapists. Life's spectrum.

Hi. I have a question. I was offered by past life hypnotherapist to clear away some tension for free. Instead of having me going into hypnosis, she did. We searched through my "muscle memory" or whatever you want to call it to find where that block was coming from. Anyways, she gave me a really bizarre story that made us both wonder. It did clear things up, but I would really like to know if its possible for a hypnotherapist to look through your past lives. This past life was really out there and I just kinda want to know if it really happened or not.

The past life seems to make sense to who I am today, but this past life that she told me was way different then what I hear from others past lives.

There are many spiritual healers who enter meditation and receive guidance from the spirit on the ways to help people. Hypnotherapy/spiritual healing/psychotherapy require a deep trust on your part - you don't want to put your subconscious in the wrong hands.

I suggest diving deeper into whichever spiritual tradition suits you. Cultivate more and more love for others and you will find the knots of the heart untangle themselves automatically.

why did you dredge up this antique post?

not only have i found a hypnotherapist since the years ago this was posted, but i've trained under him and recieved certification for NLP. this post bears absloutely no relevance to my current life. what on earth did you dig it up for?

i love hypnosis--i believe anything can be cured through it. i've heard of cancer being eliminated with it! i love it! love it! love it! i also love guided meditation-very similar but sometimes a bit more spiritual. i find hypno really help me meditate easier--it got me to stillness faster.
