but i only have one right now... i'll take some today and as things progress. i'll just stick 'em in this thread (that way i'm not all over the place. and yes, i stole sped's idea ) so this is pretty much what i'm starting with. dry, curly hair that forms into ringlets and knots easily. this is from the first couple of days of washing with doc bronner's and no brushing. the back of my hair is actually starting to dread up now (i think i'm at a week... yeah, let's call it 1 week) so the next photos i post should be more interesting
wow very cool. im excited to see where this goes, your hair will take very well to dreads. patience. and i already see some roots starting to knot up on top there, nice!
i love those ringlets... they rock dude!! i have naturally curly hair, but it just frizzes up into a giant crapo asian afro, haha! i wonder what the dreads will turn out like... ahh its like watching kids grow, yay!
you guys are so nice! i think i'm entitled to be as lazy as possible in neglecting my hair since i've been fighting it my whole life. oh yeah, and that is my quaker in the 1st photo.... sooooo cute! got him for my birthday and my bf and i are completely in love with him! his official name's "marco polo" or possibly "pants"... we're not very good at sticking with names, so generally the bird's name is "bird". he talks and mutters all the time, chews on everything (but doesn't bite), takes baths in his waterdish, and loves being smooched. here's pictures at one week... sorry; i have the crappiest digital camera ever (understatement- at least it's excessively easy to use), so the quality's awful. by the time i actually have dreads, we'll have a decent camera
Your hair is such a beautiful color!! I love it, and it'll make gorgeous dreads. Your Quaker sounds adorable! I've got two Quakers that I got as babies, and they are about 6 months old now. Instead of calling them by their names, I just call them the 'Babies". First thing in the morning when I go in to feed my flock of birds, the babies greet me by saying "Babies! Quaker Babies! Baby Quakers!" because I've said it to them so many times. My year old male is named "little chicken", and he's constantly saying "Little Chicken!" and "What are you doing?" He does a great Al Pacino impersonation too ..... lol. My 9 year old female mutters a lot, and has a very gravely, raspy voice.... so we cant understand her all that much, but she always refers to her boyfriend as "chicken", and sings the spongebob squarepants theme song.
that made me laugh! my bird says "what're you doin'?" CONSTANTLY. that's the only phrase he really knows.... he sticks it in with other things that he's still practising -"muttermuttermutterDOIN'?!mutttermutter".... freaking hilarious!! he makes us laugh so much!
Mine will do that too.... they say their whole sentances like good birdies, and then they start to get lazy. Like Little Chicken will start out saying "what are you doing" then he progresses to just "What" or "doing" or "you doing?". Sometimes he'll say his name over and over, starting out with the full name, then just out of the blue he'll blurt out "Little!" or "Chicken!". I LOVE LOVE LOVE Quaker parrots!!! Your's sounds very loved, and like a little comedian.
Sped has an idea? And you have wicked hair, its gonna make the bestest dreadlocks, for some reason you really remind me of someone I know, but can't put my finger on it...
