Well, i have (or have tryed to...) read "Hegemony or Survival" by Noam Chomsky. And Anti-Capitalism A Beginners Guide....(the authors name doesn't come to mind right now). Now, i have read both of these (well, as much as i could), but it's just not making sense. I have some sense of the wrongs of capitalism, but im still not getting the big picture, and am having a very hard time getting it. I often find myself very frustrated. Don't get me wrong, i love reading and learning about it, but theres only so much. Well anyway, on to my question. I need a book about the wrong's of capitalism, and other alterntaives. I am vagely familar with socialsim, and communism. But have been reading alot about anarchism. I am a sophmore in highschool. So anything on a high school level would be good. It just seems like everything is far more complicated than i can understand. Well, any help would be great. Thanks,
Capitalism is the reason the West live like kings and the rest of the world live under oppression & poverty. It's not OUR fault that they choose to live like that.
Last night there was a program on Bill Moyers I think it was titled "Heading for 1929?": http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/10122007/profile.html The author, Robert Kuttner of SQUANDERING OF AMERICA: HOW THE FAILURE OF OUR POLITICS UNDERMINES OUR PROSPERITY, was on and it was pretty interesting how his premise is that perhaps the solution we should be looking at is "managed capitalism".
