Pink Floyd are Space Rock, essentially a mix of Jazz and Phsychedelia. I find it funny how Floyd fans consider themselves to be so intelligent, yet casually dismiss hip-hop. No offense to any of you, just a general observation.
I wasn't connecting them, just saying it's strange how it's strange how all the intellectual Floyd fans casually dismiss hip-hop.
Most fo them have probably assumed all hip-hop is In Da Cub or whatever, without listening to something that's not on the radio.
yea I see what you're saying. i went to a Roger Waters concert last summer with one of these fakeys. Every song (except for "Money") he said, hey what's this one. He always goes around saying he's the biggest fan. I mean it doesn't bother me that much. it actually kind of amuses me. Also, and this is the really sad thing, until I told him about the concert he thought Pink Floyd was one guy.
What pisses me off even more is kids who actually are really into Pink Floyd and think that it makes them special...
The funny thing is that Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall actually are my favorites...to me that was when they were in their prime musically. I like Wish You Were Here but its kind of boring to me and A Momentary Lapse of Reason is too 80's. There were a couple other albums I listened to but nothing jumped out at me. I did like Learning to Fly though.
Wether they are fake fans or not, at least they recognize quality. Better to be a fake Floyd fan than be a true rap fan, correct? LOL. So many kids nowadays dont even know what music is, so, if they want to say Floyd and Gilmour and Waters are God, then more power to them. On another note, tomorrow night I am going to see the Australian Pink Floyd show for the first time. I have heard so many good reviews about this show, and so many say they are as good if not better than the real deal. I do have a bootleg of them, and I must say it is difficult to believe you are not listening to the real thing when you hear it. I am really looking forward to this show at the Joint in the Hard Rock Casino here in Vegas tomorrow night. I will let you all know what I think of it on Saturday.
I see that you are not a fake! S. Barrett may have only been with PF for 3 yrs., but that era was great.
Dude, Pink Floyd is probably the worst band in the world. Probably. All their music was trash. Anyone that likes them is cliche'd as fuck. In fact I think the casual listeners are better off, because they don't have to hear quite as much musical diahrea
It's fine if you don't take an interest in Pink Floyd's music and all, but to consider them the worst band in the world? I mean, to each their own, but I would at least think you'd agree there are far worse bands out there both musically and vocally than Pink Floyd. I know everyone's opinion on what sounds good differs greatly, but your comment really amazed me. Also, how exactly did you come to the conclusion that anyone who listens to Pink Floyd is cliched? I am sure you'd highly disagree if I told you the same about [insert the name of your favorite band]. Listening to well-known bands doesn't make someone lack in originality. That is, if they truly enjoy the music and aren't faking to fit in with their friends or whoever, and I will admit people like this exist. Stereotyping all fans is just plain ignorant.
I do take an interest in their music. I'm very interested in how it got so crappy and how people can listen to it without shoving an ice pick in their ears. As for the conclusion that anyone who listens is cliche'd... if you read the whole thread, then read my post CAREFULLY, I think you'll see how. You know what's ignorant man, pink floyd.
I guess that is why Dark Side Of The Moon is just one of the top sellers of all time. How do you make such a claim with "probably"
As I recall "KISS" is also one of the nuber one selling bands (consecutive albums) of all time. Sales records indicate nothing of a bands true talent. Curtis, I expected the angry knee-jerk reaction from the younger thread participants and elitist floyd fans... you're older, certainly my intentions aren't that "obscured"?
