Hey guys whats up i been looking around alot on here awesome forum.
I been wanting dreads since i was like 12 when i was first introduced to reggae and peter tosh i just fell in love with it all
i just want to grow my dreads out live at the beach surf and love life

i really like the natural look a bunch just letting my hair do what it wants and i surf a bunch so hopefully the salt water helps
i just plan on wearing a beanie or whatever and one day just whipping out my sexy locks and parents being like wtf? how did that happen lol and yeah see how it goes
so any recommendations on how i should do the natural method or way
ok the thing about the dr bronners soap i don't know how i would tell my mom to buy it for me haha she would be like why? lol
so i started tuesday and i haven't washed my hair at all but one thing
when you say wash can i still get it wet in the shower? like i just wash it with water do you do that or no?
also my hair isn't really getting knotted or anything maybe that will change when i surf this weekend i dunno
it just seems like its not like getting tangled or anything
if you guys want i can post a pic of my hair

...as far as it not being knotty yet... it's only been 3 days. You should start getting dreadlings within the month though. I think it took me one week before the first one started up.

saltwater/surfing will definitely help it along, and in the beginning you don't need bronners... any all-natural soap or shampoo will do. Just tell your mom you're concerned about the environment and would like to go the the health food store for more suitable products.

Wash it however you want though, whatever works for you. Everyone's hair is different and they find techniques that work for them. I found washing often in the beginning helped form knots, while some prefer to wash only once a week. It's totally up to you. Experiment. Just make sure to use all natural shampoo/soap.

dr bronners is biodegradable, all natural & can be used for just about everything youd use any type detergents for but contains no detergents
tell her you'd like to try it since it can replace probly 30 other more harmfull products ya probly have around the house

so does it like dry up your hair real nice so it tangles and gets knots easier or how does it work?
also how do you dilute it? im getting tea tree
    well thanks guys
awesome dreads soaring ( i know everyone says this haha) but i saw the pic of 2 guys holding your dreads how long they were and i was like dang those are way gnarly i want those lol

doesnt really dry your hair but it removes any residue from crap u used b4 & leaves none itself
teatree also is a natural anti dandruff herb, & repels insects to a degree, & is antiseptic..
to dry your hair in the early stages u can use a sea salt spray, also knotty boty has dread tightening teas, never tried them, but you spray the tea on & it supposedly helps tighten them..
and diluting dr bronners, you can mix it in another bottle, any dilution you want up to 12 parts water 1 part bronners
you can use it undiluted too, but it lasts longer & rinces even cleaner if its diluted

i've heard that if you don't dilute it, it builds up on your scalp and sometimes burns

    I use Bronners too, but it's a bar ... so I don't have to dilute it. :D

It's tea tree too, so it smells great, and feels great. :)
