If he does sue though, you'll lose, because you "allowed" him to become intoxicated on your property, so you're responsible for his actions as a drunken idiot even if he was an idiot before he started drinking. ^^^Our laws suck ass but I've only been trained in the Ontario versions about 6 years ago so if warmhanded lives elsewhere it may be different. They're impossible to adhere to though, if you're bartending you'd have to cut someone off before they're even tipsy. How do you tell the big burly guy that he can't have a fourth beer exactly?

Here's another fun scenario: Your friend is already drunk when he comes to visit you but you cannot tell he is drunk, so you give him one beer. He drives home and kills a mother and a 5-year old. The victim's family can now sue YOU and win, because you served him last and should have prevented him from driving.

I guess a good lawyer could do anything though...I dunno we didn't study that.

And I hope he doesnt sue. I'm pretty sure in the US they will kill your dog, almost no questions asked. If someone was being a retard and that happened, then they try to kill my dog I would FLIP OUT and probably end up in jail.

the guy would have to ask for police involvement, and it would be following an investigation/court case (at least in Pennsylvania)

my 10th Grade Civics teacher had his dog "escape and attack" a dude
when really the guy hated the dog, and opened the gate so the dog would run away, and the dog was defending his territory (I don't know how, but my teacher was able to prove to/convince the judge of that)

 

I dont know much about this to comment really. But all I'm saying is growing up in virginia I witnessed more than one dog be court ordered to be euthanized after attacking people..
I'm sure every area has a different way of going about it though

 

I guess pennsylvania is different then

I know of one story where some rottweilers attacked and killed a neighbor's child, and they court-ordered were euthanized
that was a few years back

other than that, you don't here about it much
I can think of more animal being attacked by human stories than the other way around

 

Yeah for real. Of course thats a pretty big crime in itself, I think you can get some serious jail time for beating up a dog.

He feels pretty dumb I think, and my husband mentioned his drunken idiodicy to him. One thing though, he came over drunk already, that's why he was so loaded, we were having a mellow night with the kids... hell, we even had kids visiting that night who knew not to bug the dog !!!


I dont think I will ever look at him as a friend anymore though.
