    1. do 'em your self or with some friends. most salons just mess em up
    2. how ever big you mant em ( personall bigger is better )
    3. 5in minimum but shoulder length goes better
    4. um...beanie...just makes em flat...... wool Tams however, will help em knot up

    use instructions on dreadhead hq

    but DON'T USE THE WAX

basicly section your hair into 1.5 in blocka and comb backwards
    twist and rip the clumps

i havea Question but dont want to start a thread. i want to get dreadlocks as well but my only fear is having to shave my head if i ever want to get rid of them. would i have to shave my head or is there a process that could save my hair? (my hair the only thing i like about myself. so it means alot to me lol)

you can have more than two inches. saving your hair depends on how long youve had the locks. when i cut my first set off, they were 4 months old and i ended up with at least 3 inches of hair. i could have had 5 inches or so but i wanted it shorter. the bottom line is, you dont have to shave your head but you will have short hair.

You can also comb them out most of the time. It's a total pain in the ass, but if you put enough work into it, I'm sure you could do it.

I know someone who had them for 6 years, and combed them out, she cut a little but the hair looks good after 6 years and lots of conditioner ;)

most salons don't know how to "do dreads" either. they will pretend to but most of the time they are just going to backcomb, twist, and wax the shit out of them.

dreads are a process and cannot be "done" in one day. you can get some friends together and section and backcomb them and you should be fine. don't use wax and read a lot of the threads on this messageboard (for both support and knowledge)

    stay away from wax
stay away from dreadhead hq and knottyboy
