So I had this weird dream(Odd for this forum, yeah?) a few nights ago... I tried to post it before, but the site was down, or something... SO I'M GOING TO DO IT NOW. XD So, it started out with my mom and I, and we were driving home from some place, maybe the store, I don't know. But we were driving past the park, and I asked if we could take a drive through one of the routes, and she agreed, saying something about making up for not taking me a few nights before. So she turned into the entrance and we started down the road. We were about halfway through when Mom realized she had to call someone. Now, this was quite a heavily wooded area, and she had to drive around a bit in order to get a good signal. Right in the middle of the route, we saw an RV parked in the grass, next to the road. There was a large ditch nearby, with a creek, some rocks, and a few tall trees. There was also an odd man, obviously the owner of the RV, with a golf bag full of clubs and balls. He was kind of portly, with long, curly red hair, and strangely enough, his hair was in pigtails. He smiled and waved, while walking across the road to play a little golf. I suppose he didn't know that there was an actual golf course in the park. Mom, for some reason, stopped there. I guess she thought there was a good signal, since an RV was parked in that area. A few minutes passed, and my mom was finally done with her phone conversation. The golfer walked over and started talking to my mother through the car window, and both the driver and passenger windows were down. I don't know what they were talking about, but suddenly, out of the ditch came a male lion. Along with the random lion, a gazelle appeared next to car. As the lion attacked it's prey, the golf-guy jumped back, saying "Oh, shit!". I also freaked out a little, and told Mom to roll the windows up after a short, but shrill scream. She did as I said, but didn't panic in the least. And honestly, after my yelling and the mans swearing, we didn't panic at all. After the lion had wounded the gazelle, he bit its back and carried it back to the ditch, then dropped it into the creek. Just as he did this, a hippo, and if I remember right, another gazelle appeared by our van. This time the African cat went for the larger animal, and pounced on the hippo, surprisingly doing the same thing it did with the first victim. The second gazelle disappeared, just as quickly as it appeared. After this, I noticed my mothers window was open just a little, but I decided it wouldn't be the death of us to leave it like it was, and didn't say anything. But I did wonder why a MALE lion was attacking and killing these animals, instead of a lioness. And just to make me happy, the male lion came back, and with his girlfriends! Two lionesses now began to run around our vehicle, and the male jumped on the windshield - which, fortunately, didn't break - , growling and roaring at us through the glass. Then he jumped off, and one of the females popped up next to the drivers window, with all claws extended. She looked directly at us, then lifted one paw and asked in a human voice, "Did he have his claws out?" "Yes" We both answered. "Good!" She then plopped back down, but the male jumped back up, this time reaching the roof of the van. He did start to slip, though, and he began to slide off the drivers side. Now, he was practically on Mom's door, and his claws got caught in the small opening in the window. With all the weight forced on the glass, it started to go down, meaning the drivers window was opening up more, with Mom sitting right next to the lion. I was scared, and I felt horrible for not telling her about the opening before such a thing happened. But she had no fear, and with the window opened all the way, and a large, male lion on her door, she opened it up and started to get out of the car. She looked to me and said "I'm going to get out. Later, I want you to meet me at ________" (I can't remember where she said she was going to be, sorry) Then I woke up. Mom and I, nor the golfer, were ever harmed by the cats. It was just weird. Anyone want to interpret this for me? Please and thanks! -2SkyDragon
obviously your mom was seeing something, or seeing through something, at the end of your discription there, that you weren't. i don't believe, as i've said many times before, in fixed interpretation of symbols or cookbook approaches to doing so. but i think one thing, where you were seeing lions and possibly some of the other creatures, but certainly the lions, the other people in your dream were seeing lion spirited other people. two things stand out in my mind: cleche'd expectations on the part of your subconscous, while at the same time its realization that everyone else might not have the same limitations of perception. it was clearly telling you to look beyond surfaces, but that's about the only thing i can see it as being very clear about. perhapse also that you can't count on the familiar always staying that way, but then most dreams do that anyway. not that politicly (and/or 'religeously'?) assertive 'lion' people can't be, or arn't dangerous too, but at the same time, they ARE also 'people/human'. there is a possible c.s.lewis connection and his use of lion symbolism. possible but not essential. nor was he entirely right, but even fanatical religeous demigogs are people too in some sense. but i think your lions might have been more honestly and naturally innocent, then any televangelist. there is of course a theme of survival/food cycle, but the male lion killing (or injuring) more then once would seem to detract from its being a major one. it's probably just telling you that loud and aggressive people arn't always life threatining, which is true up to a point, but also that what you did in avoiding them was not entirely lacking in good sense either. and of course finnally, i'm seeing things in terms of how i might see them, which, like anyone else, could be totally off the beam from what anything is ment to mean to you. (which is of course the problem with asking anyone other then yourself to interpret anything) =^^= .../\...
