I find that to be rather horrifying Hopefully you understnad where I come from as I don't want to explain myself now, but what do you all think?
I think it's good. Even if people are being environmentally cautious just because it's the thing to do right now, it's better then them doing nothing at all, yanno?
saving the earth being popular is bad?soooo environmentalism is supposed to be an elitist group of left wing radicals? not everyone can do their part? i dont follow how thats a bad thing...
^^^ Yea, thats how I thought alot of people would take it. Im not trying to be elitist at all. Im not saying you have to be left wing to conserve energy at all A poor example is a t-shirt promoting saving energy made by one of those super super expensive adolescent clothing companies that was probably made by a starving kid chained to a machine. Its just there to look good, to present yourself in a certain way I mean yea, people trying to conserve energy is definetly a good thing, but theres still something about it just being a Fashion that almost defeats the idea. I guess to some extent it could actually be good since alot of packaging/oil companies are trying to start being much more earth friendly, but your average person just does it because certain other people are doing it. Thats practically what fashion is I don't know, theres just something abbout it thats bothering me...
I just dont like the people who claim to be environmentalists because they do one thing good for the planet, e.g recycle their trash but nothing more. I think the term environmentalist should be reserved for someone who is truly all about making their carbon footprint as small as possible. I like to consider the others Environmentally aware.
On the topic of the environment, I heard this really interesting thing. Terrence Mckenna said he "asked the mushroom how to save the planet", and got the response that each person should parent only once. So basically he suggested that if everyone were to only have one child it would quickly cause a large decrease in population along with a decrease of resource use
exactly... funny how everything that sells is supposedly "going green" but stellas right, action, and at least some effort, is better than none at all. pick your battles man.
Yeah, I'm glad though. I much prefer having people agree that the environment needs to be protected than having a bunch of neo-cons constantly arguing that there's no such thing as global warming. It's true that it's rather idiotic to wear a "Go Green" shirt manufactured by underpaid children of Exxon Mobile Clothing Industries in their Rainforest-based manufacturing plant, but at least they're not wearing shirts that say "FUCK GOIN' GREEN" manufactured by underpaid children of Exxon Mobile Clothing Industries in their Rainforest-based manufacturing plant.
It's prolly better than it is worse. Yeah, I wish everyone's heart was in it, but it's pretty neat saving the earth is popular
