Hello everyone new to the forums and just wanted to to know what to do to become a hippie or if im even a hippie at all. i love all the music during the 60's. Grateful dead. Incredible.Janis. Jefferson Airplane. John Lennon. I could go on forever. Im growing my hair out. I love the lifestyle. I believe in peace, not war. i personally think we should stop all war and maintain peace throughout the whole world. im not a vegetarian but i wear tie dyes and make tie dyes all the time and wear jeans. i want to know how to becomer more "hip" and how to be accepted with my family and freinds because i truly want to be a hippy and think i am one. i also love playing music. drums, bongos, some hand drums. give me your insight and comments. PEACE
sounds to me like you got a pretty good headstart,my friend! if you are pretty sure you are, then take it and run with it. you have to feel it in yourself.....it takes more than listening to the doors and wearing tie dye, but i think, from your post, you are one. just your family and friends who don't accept it may bring you down and make you think if you truly are or not.
After seven days He was quite tired so God said: "Let there be a day Just for picnics, with wine and bread" He gathered up some people he had made Created blanket and laid back in the shade The people sipped their wine And what with God there, they asked him questions Like: do you have to eat Or get your hair cut in heaven? And if your eye got poked out in this life Would it be waiting up in heaven with your wife? God shuffled his feet and glanced around at them; The people cleared their throats and stared right back at him So he said:"Once there was a boy Who woke up with blue hair To him it was a joy Until he ran out into the warm air He thought of how his friend would come to see; And would they laugh, or had he got some strange disease? God shuffled his feet and glanced around at them; The people cleared their throats and stared right back at him The people sat waiting Out on their blankets in the garden But God said nothing So someone asked him:"I beg your pardon: I'm not quite clear about what you just spoke What that a parable, or a very subtle joke?" God shuffled his feet and glanced around at them; The people cleared their throats and stared right back at him Crash Test Dummies lyrics Interpretation.... Life isn't about having good without bad. It's about variety. It's about being unique and apreciating uniqueness. Most people don't understand that. They are afraid to be themselves because they might not be accepted. Be proud of your blue hair, or whatever it is that makes you different and unique, because that's what being a hippie is all about. It isn't about wearing "the right" clothes or doing "the right" things. That's conformism. The right clothes for a hippie to wear and the right things for a hippie to do are all things that should be decided by the hippie and no one else. Being hip is knowing how to be yourself! Good luck to ya!
Not yet, but you're probably closer than further. You're 15, enjoy finding yourself whoever you may be. Don't worry about what your label is. Besides, I wouldn't try to be a hippie, haven't you heard they all smell bad?
The most important part of being a hippie is being yourself. I used to try hard to be different things, like a hippie... but then one day, I decided that it wasn't worth it to give up who I am and to try to turn myself into a stereotype, just so I could fit in. Of course, this doesn't mean that I'm perfect, or that I don't struggle with my own insecurities... it just means I'm trying. And... one thing I try to remember is: "I don't know who I am, but life is for learning." Life is a journey, and since you're 15, you've got a long way to go yet. You don't have to figure everything out at once. Good luck on your journey.
Hi folks... Some say I'm a hippy because I'm chosing a quite individual way in whatever I do. Well okay I like the 60s and i like the music and everything ... my mind I think is more more a hippy than me, my outward appearence. Being a Civil Servant makes being a hippy even harder... I don't push me to be one... I got the feeling that others expect me to be a hippy....would someone please define "hippy"? is it smoking green with no excuses? Is it wearing dreadlocks? I had dreads when I was at university.. I think it's so many things.. my mind tells me: Silvie you are different, you don't care about style, money and things.. you care about people... the ones you love and... well you smoke no green... Would someone please try to define it??? Peace be with all of You Silvia PS: in case of any misunderstandings: I don't judge consuming green, it's just nothing for me...
Don't be cliche. Don't change you are to fit under a certain label, even if that label is hippie. That's where I went wrong friend. Just be. Wanna get hip? Read some Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg. Dig up some old music. I mean hell, the Dead didnt listen to themselves. I recommend delta blues and Woody Guthrie. Into peace? Try Phil Ochs. Become a vegetarian if it feels right in your heart Keep up the tie-dye, that stuffs pretty damn cool. And never ever ever label yourself. If being accepted by your family and friends is that important, maybe hippie isn;t right for you. I lost all my friends but gained amazing new ones. Thats all I gotta say. Peace.
I don't have dreadlocks, smoke weed as yet, always wear tie dye, though i love it, or always listen to 60s music, yet if you met me, you'd say I was a hippie. I have a very individual style, today I have on a knitted cardigan, 2 silk scarves, a poofy skirt that i've taken in cos it was 4 sizes too big for me, blue tights and black boots with rainbow laces. Being a hippie is about being true to yourself, not letting others break you from your beliefs, being empathatic and loving peace. There's no set rules to follow, in fact the rules of hippiedom are there are no rules! Drugs don't make you a hippie, dreads don't amke you a hippie, sure, you'll look like one... What makes you a hippie is your soul. If you've hippie in your soul and peace in your heart go for it! (I hope I don't sound like I'm on an acid trip lol)
