well I suppose to an extent if started short by the time they are long it will be a while so they will be very mature. But everyones hair is unique and beautiful in its own way.

well i started with about 6 - 7 inches of hair and the dreads are about 5 inches at max, most shorter. but they grow in as mature dreads as the hair grows with them...

I don't think it makes a difference... long hair usually ends up shrinking anyway. I think it's just hard with *really* long hair, meaning past the waist towards the bum. I had to end up trimming mine back because it was dreading kinda weird to me. I could've been just buggin though.

if you start short you end up with a lot less loops and such.

i started my dreads with long hair and th tips of my dreads are all mad loops and loose hairs but the top 3-5 inches of each dread is nicely knotted....strange.
