The construction of the NAFTA superhighway is already in the works in Texas (the Trans-Texas Corridor) as well as up in Canada. This is the beginning of what will become the NAFTA/NAU superhighway when completed. And it won't take 50 years because this work is being carried out around the clock and throughout all seasons.

The assumptions being taken as fact here are ridiculous.

a) That shallow integration (free-trade agreements) are necessarily foreshadowings of deeper integration (ie: currency unions).

b) That there is actually more integration happening. Barriers to trade between Canada and the US are actually increasing, although not necessarily in Tariff form.

c) That an organically created EU is somehow a direct analogy for Canada/US relations.

Texas is the only state i know of that has automatic gates that close off the on-ramps to I-35 when traffic gets bad, which it does everyday. Anything they "TxDOT" do, will only help excisiting traffic problems.Which is still a long ways from a NAFTASUPERHIGHWAY.
