Well I been giving clothes and things to the homeless about a year now and I grew tired of how the government just ignores them, I've seen homeless people at bustops while they are standing the bus will just pass them paying the no thought, I've seen them get arrested just for loitering. Well I got tired of it so I organized a protest in which I would get all the homeless people I knew and all people that support the homeless and we would stan in front of the capitol builing and give the food clothing and drinks and demand the government stop ignoring the homeless. I have a radio apperance already and alot of people calling me and giving me support. We altogether have put up about a thousand flyers arounf the city I was going to do this without a permit because I thought it would make a bigger statement and be harder to ignore the homeless if we voluntarily were arrested ,a 65 year old lady living on 600 dollars a month called me and said she wouldnt mind getting arrested because the media would pay attention to that. Also I think it violates my first admenment right to peacefully assemble. But the cops came to my school today and got me out of lunch and kept telling me I needed to get a permit and one of the cops called my parents twice. So I need your advice permit or no permit? p.s. I have no problem being arrested if the cause is just which I think it is.
while getting arrested for what you believe is right is surley a noble thing to do, your protest won't last long. i figure with the pemit you can be a pain in there ass a lot longer, and get more supporters! ps.cool,VERY COOL!:applause:
yes they are all right with getting a permit, GOOD LUCK TO YOU . i mean that. There should be more ppl like you out there actually MAKING a difference. You are a good person.
When I was your age I was temporarily homeless. I Could have remained that way if it weren't for my best friend and his family. You should do whatever you can to draw attention to this issue. In my opinion, getting the permit and keeping with the protest as long as possible would be in your best interests. You're going to turn into a great man Rebel.
You can be more of a 'pain in the ass' to the system if you learn to work within the legal framework Otherwise in this post 911 atmosphere of paranoia and the rise of fascism, you’ll only get tossed in jail and labeled a dangerous subversive. Hotwater
Get the permit and bravo for standing up for something you believe in. Not many people seem to have a decent moral compass or character to back it up... it's gives me an incredible sense of optimism to see it- especially in someone so young. Keep fighting the good fight... if there are more folks like you then there may well be hope for this country.
everything already said... also, if you get the permit and they still arrest you it would be that much better
I think that there are more productive ways to invest your time in rather than hanging flyers. But that's just me. It's that whole 'be the change you want to be in the world' thing - as futile as it may sometimes seem, handing out clothes to the homeless is a good thing to do. And yes, the gov't may be focusing their attention to other things and not so much to the homeless situation, but at least there are people like you to devote your time in doing it.
