Hi, I'm schedualed for surgery to have my gallbladder removed due to gallstones. I'm just wondering if anyone here has had this done and if so if they could post their experience. side effects? Pain? Problems afterwards? Thank you :) theres a lot of conflicting sides to it, keep it and try natural remedies and risk complications or have it removed and risk bad side effects.

It sort of depends on what your symptoms are. I have not had mine out personally, but if I needed to, I wouldn't hesitate to. Anecdotally, my dad and several friends have had theirs' out, and to my knowledge they're all doing fine and haven't had to alter their dietary behavior or otherwise.

Cholecystectomies are one of the most commonly performed surgical procedures in the U.S., and the long-term effects are minimal. Short-term, you can have the usual complications: infection, bleeding, etc., as well as things like irritating the pancreas, but these are all unlikely in the hands of a competent surgeon. In the long-term, depending on your symptoms, I think it's a sensible thing to do.
