I have met yet another suicidally depressed being that wastes there brain on all sortsa shit n then has the audactiy to sit n piss whine n cry about ther pathetic life and existence and how horrible it all is and has been ,,, yearning for attention in all sorta ways then comes out about all the meds n drugs they use n abuse..... why not state ya got a drug issue before ya ever go on yer rant why not be honest.... would really waste alot less of peoples time in the long run and you would at least get more specific issues answered,,, why dont yas realize that if yer on psych meds,,,, you have chosen that path n prolly oughtta give up other fun drugs atleast yo see if that is where the extremes of depression are coming from ,,,, its really simple really .. why the deceit n bullshit then do a changeup in ya story,,,, ,,,, then when no sympathy is gotten those that try to help are the heartless pricks... are pathological lies n coverups this just something that goes hand in hand with mental illness or does it just seem that way?
There's some correlation as far as I'm concerned. Not everyone who's depressed bullshits though. My observation concerns young people Some folks maintain their depression because it gives them something to complain about. The bullshitting happens when they get called on what they're doing to mitigate their situation. It seems that there's a rash of mental illness lately and I call bullshit on that. If most people who claim depression really want to do something about their lot in life they would. Most depression is just boredom. Growing up, I had work to do around the house. Regular chores included vegetable garden and lawn work during the summer- helping dad cut firewood, house cleaning, my own laundry... during the fall We all participated in canning and freezing home grown vegetables, winter we split firewood and shoveled snow... the business of running a household saw time consuming and labor intensive responsibilities delegated in age appropriate manner; plus there was school work where I was expected to keep up... I had little time to be a kid and get in trouble (though I managed to) and even less time to get depressed. Most people I grew up with had full childhood itineraries full of work and responsibilities These days life is just too damned convenient and idle minds have a surplus of energy which many use to self-destruct. Without the little things in life to help realize a sense of accomplishment and self there is little to base ones self worth on. Without any example to base a constructive of personal time nor motivation to take on a worthwhile activity the vast potential of many goes unfulfilled and they know it. My advice to anyone who thinks they are depressed... get a hobby... or a job... or volunteer- do SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE!!!! My apologies for steering this off topic a bit... but my bet is that most depression IS bullshit.
As a depressed person who has a full time job and works lots of overtime and has several hobbies and lots of adult responsibilities and whose attitude toward the illness is along the line of "Gotta suck it up and deal with it" I think you paint a portrait of the depressed with too broad a brush.
I did know a suicidal girl, one day she came to me saying, i attempted yet another suicide attempt. I personnally think, that people who are tired of life, sick of this world wouldn't step towards some-one asking for empathie. Stinkfoot, i believe you are mixing things, it's not about having a "idle mind", but in this wicked society there is alot of pressure, way more pressure then before, especially on young people, from all sides they are hearing that they must study, that they must get a diploma, that they must try harder, that they will fail if they don't, that they will end up in the streets etc etc. Here in belgium, where they have about the highest suicide rates, it's clearly that it hasn't anything to do with boredom, it is pure pressure that drives people insane. I agree, that some people are just looking for attention, you can't blame those egocentric fools, but don't ridicoulise people who are really tired of this wicked world. It's pressure not boredom, don't ever mix those up again .
wow. talk about perpetuating a sweeping negative stereotype against all individuals who are mentally ill.
