Ok, so I had a new window put in my car a couple weeks ago and just had it tinted last week, all of which costed around $300. Well, today I'm rolling up the window when I notice a fatty 6" scratch in the tint, it almost looks like it scratched the glass itself. And it's a 5% tint so it's like white on black... I'm not sure who to bring it back to, the guys who put in the window or the guys who tinted it, but god dammit this blows.
The window has a lifetime warranty but I think it was just installed improperly. Hopefully they'll fix it and pay for new tinting but if not I'll just sharpie over it, you can't tell there's a scratch from the outside anyway. And yeah, I just smoked a bong bowl.
Oh well, I might as well use this thread for something productive... What kind of rims should I get? I was thinking 6 spoke black with a chrome lip..
I would do a darker colored wheel on that the offset of black/white would look good. Also do something borderline of the time period. Like a modern wheel with a somewhat throwback feel to it.
That's an awesome car.. My hubby had a 90 something trans am, also white. He sold it when he lost his lisence! lol Now we've got an 89? I think camaro in the family, but I guess we're selling that too. I would take it to the tint place first, see what they tell you, and then if they say sol bring it to the window place since you have a lifetime warrantee or whatever.. Good luck with that cool ride. I wish mine was that nice.
So does your warranty cover other peoples mistakes like messing up tinted windows? No. Its not the window installers fault but the one who put the tint on. Go to them. Warranty probably wont do shit if you caused it to get fucked up. They usually cover things like broken windows, cracks...etc, not when its your own fault. I had warranty on all my tires and one of them popped from a nail. They said o the warranty is ONLY for tires that have been warn down not ones that pop. What kind of bs is that?
How was this my fault, though? I paid for a brand new window and installation, when they were installing the window they should have made sure it wouldn't scrape against anything. I think they should reinstall it properly and then cover all damages due to to the poor installation job they did.
Well, I'm not sure if I want to keep it white, I might have it painted black instead. Either way, I was thinking of one of these, probably 18": http://www.streetdreams.org/wheels/rims/Zenetti/Throwback/Black%20with%20Chrome%20Lip http://www.streetdreams.org/wheels/rims/Giovanna/Canelli/Black%20with%20Stainless%20Lip http://www.streetdreams.org/wheels/rims/Venti/V56/Black%20with%20Machined%20Lip http://www.streetdreams.org/wheels/rims/Venti/V59/Black%20with%20Machined%20Lip I haven't checked to see if any fit my bolt pattern, though.
Thanks, I just bought the car, '91 Pontiac Firebird GTA, not too long ago for a grand. I've got all the mechanical work finished and just need to work on a few minor cosmetic things like a couple small dents, replacing the dash, putting in leather seats, and maybe new paint. I already ordered new headers, exhaust (Borlo's), and cold air intake, I just need to order a new chip now and once it's all installed I should be sittin' on at least 350 hp. After that I just need new rims, tires, stereo/speakers. I'll probably upgrade the suspension, too, and eventually I want to drop in a 400ci Turbo rebuilt from a '69 Grand Prix that my friend's willing to sell me, which would bump me up to around 500 hp. Yeah, I should probably take it to the tinting place first.
I like the first and the last rims the best. As for the window, if you can prove that the scratch was from it scraping against somthing, not just some kid keying it, then i would think they would have to pay for damages.
I like the first wheels in that list for the car best. Im not into the chrome lip but again its not my car so do what makes you happy with it. I love the whole car scene, granted I drive a stock dodge neon because I cant afford to tune my car and ski, mountain bike, smoke pot, and try and finally finish college all at the same time. But some day when the times right Ill build myself a little mid life crisis of a car. But in the mean time to hold me over I just have a bunch of friends with really nice cars. Mostly imports but not your typical honda civic with a fart can either.
damn looks like its gonna be a nice ride when all is finished and done but it sounds like its gonna be a little while before everything is complete i also like the 4th rims the best you should def go to both places though and try to get it fixed theres no harm in trying both
The scratch is on the inside of the window, not the outside, that's why I'm pissed it scratched off the tinting.
