what are some of hippest spots up in the Northeast to live? Im not looking for like a big city or anything. just a chill, beautiful place with some peace there and some cool people, spots to visit & nature to see.

    Burlington, Vermont.

Lots of hippies, artists, activists, environmentalists, and Ben and Jerry's ice cream :p

Vermont is a very green state, generally. One of the most beautiful places in the Northeast.

NOT ohio. this is the center of mediocrity in all aspects. just skip the whole state.

:) I live in just across the river from Cincinnati so yes I know about the mediocrity of Ohio. believe it or not it's not quite as bad as the ignoramus diseased state of KY. I dont mind the Cleveland area too too much, but yea I wouldnt' move to Ohio. I pretty much am there anyways.

im a connecticunt by trade. there isnt that much to see here. an alright state, but if i lived anywhere in the northeast it would be VT, NH, or ME. probably vermont. that state is so fucking beautiful, and has a great character too

NH seems to be too hickish for me. toilets in the front lawn, piles of beer cans

maine is nice but its so isolated and sparsely populated

    VT has the best balance

Not for the fainthearted because of extreme tides (50'), currents and rips, but rare beauty, friendly people and quaint villages.

As far as New England goes, I lived in all 5 states of NE and many others in the northeast. Out of all of them, Maine and Vermont definitely come in at the top of the chart for me. Both of these states, Maine in particular, have properties that can be bought with a minimal down payment and owner financing. Both have some of the most breadth-taking views you will ever see. The people are very friendly. They may seem a little leary of newcomers at first, but with an honest smile and a little humor you will meet some of the best friends you will ever encounter. The folks in Maine, once you have befriended them, will literally give you the shirt off their back and will go out of their way to help you in anyway they can.
