Yeah so I decided to not freeze my bum off in Montana this winter. I'm getting a job for a few weeks so I could get enough cash for rent elswere. Anyone live somewhere warm? Rainbow family willing to accept a roommate (will pay rent of course) if so please respond... All I want is some friendly rainbow roomates.
I smoke, don't drink however unless for fancy. I do not have any emotional bagage or pets to drag along with me. A commune would be great! I have a pretty delicate situation here in Mt I'd like to escape for awhile... at least until the snow blows over :)
    Lovin' you

wow, i'm just (kinda) doing the opposite. i got a job offer in montana for the winter, but couldn't get the cash to get up there and it'll be too late by the time i get the cash together... plus its bloody cold up that way. at the moment i'm desperately looking for a house share myself, or someone to share my apartment (its a one bed and designed for one person so it might not be perfect). check out my post in the for sale/trade thread - and believe me i need some where /someone to help with the bills for a few for sure...

there is a search that you can do for places even just to crash for a little while for at least enough time for you to find a semi/permenant place.

Look it up on google... it's called couch surfing.

My sister did this when she decided to up and leave for France and she said that the places she stayed were good, except for one and it was only because they were very messy people.

If you can't find anything there you can always go onto craigs list and see if there are any postings for where you are going or create your own post. (I feel in my heart that the couch surfing is much safer, people get rated there based upon the couch surfers experiences)

I feel that if it's meant to be it's meant to be...but if one tries hard enough, what they want is "meant to be"

    Hope this helps,
    Lovin' ya,

Thanks for the link, I checked it out and I'll see what happens, but i'm looking for a more permanent solution to my housing crisis.

Craigs list has more permanent posibilities for you, possibly on a monthly basis so you might either want to post/or look there.

With couch surfing you have a couple of days of opportunity to look at the leasing possiblities and if you have difficulties, make sure to book 2 couches for a back up plan so you have a week to at least find a place to move into.

good luck with your ventures if I think of anything else I will let you know.

Well, I'm in Central FL myself, on the beach... Unfortunately my place of living would not be very condusive to couch surfing, however were you to wander down here I could definitely show you some good haunts! I spent about 2 & 1/2 years here homeless, so I know the beaches well. Plenty of daily work, daily pay places, and you can comfortably sleep outside save for the bad storm times, but I know plenty of ways around that too. If your looking to get out of the dreaded cold this is definitely the place to be! Oh there are also some decent studios & such that can be rented on a weekly, monthly or sometimes 'seasonal lease' basis (5,6, or 7 months), But honestly there are a few good spots here where a tent would work just as well & wouldn't cost as much... Gimme a shout if you want any more info...

Respek... I'd like to know the ins and outs of living homeless in any beach town. I'm no stanger to sleeping on the street, or the beach for that matter. Any light u could shed on this subject would be mucho appreciated. btw i know this artist's retreat in Tampa that's just out of this world i spent a few nights there on a previous trip with my buddy's band. It's totally worth checking out though.

Just to let you know, there was an article in yesterdays online newspaper for my area that reported on a woman replying to a posting on Craigs List for a baby sitting job and when she showed to the house things went VERY wrong. She is no longer alive.

PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL NO MATTER WHAT YOUR DECISION OF WHERE YOU ARE GOING. BE INTUITIVE, STREET SMART & ASK A LOT OF QUESTIONS BEFORE TAKING YOUR JOURNEY.

You probably, from your messages, were not going to use Craigs List, but I could not have it on my mind that I extended this info to you and GOD FORBID something went wrong.

Just letting you know, from one sister to another, be careful. Things are not always as they seem.

    lovin ya,
    musik

tell me about it ... always find out who someone is before you let them into your life, whatever their role may be - friend, lover, roommate, colleague, co-worker, whatever...

my last gf decided to move in, took most of the rent cash and spent it at the bar, then took a bunch of my stuff when i threw her out.
the roommate i had over christmas was so fucking flaky and demanding that cash was always short, and respect even shorter.
my second to last gf had so much disrespect for me that even tho i helped her with food and vitamins when she was sick and money and a phone when she was broke, she deliberately destroyed a reminder of lost friends just because she thought it 'looked gay'...

there should be a licensing system or something, fuck the credit checks and criminal background checks that most landlords and roommates use and only shows that the subject of the check has been financially screwed over, there should be a 'decent person' license which is only ever issued to people who have decent character.

It's impossible to enjoy idling thoroughly unless one has plenty of work to do.

Just to let people know, my husband and I own a two bedroom in northern Missouri. It needs quite a bit of work, but it's on 2 acres, most of which is wooded, and in a very beautiful area of the state. A lot of beautiful rolling hills, etc. We also own a triplex here in the town we live in, which also needs work which is why we don't live in it yet. If anyone is willing to help out with working on either one, we'd be glad to exchange rent for house repair labor and/or materials. We need materials more than workers, but would be happy to accept both. Of course, the major issue now is that there is an ordinance in the town we live in that we can't live in the house before certain repairs are made. The major repair that needs to be made is the roof, which is partially done but we ran out of money and materials because a guy that was helping us didn't fulfill his end of the bargain and moved away before finishing the job. No huge deal, but anyway, if anyone needs a place to stay in the meantime we'd be glad to help. We have an empty bedroom in the house we live in right now, which we are renting until the other house is ready. After that, if anyone is looking for an apartment to rent, just let me know! I'll definitely be keeping everyone up-to-date as we make more repairs. Missouri isn't all that warm but it's at least not seriously cold most of the time! Good luck to all of you!

that sounds pretty sweet, are there many jobs in the local area?

i'm still kicking myself for not managing to get to do this over-winter fencing job on the canadian border - i couldn't get the cash together 4 the bus and couldn't even phone the guy to tell him i wasn't coming... so i'm still looking to see the rest of the us and work at the same time (i live hand to mouth and have no real chance of saving anything)

i have no specialized housebuilding skills, but am really interested in helping even as a basic laborer in return for rent, or as a painter/whatever, possibly after christmas if the offers still there and if things don't drastically change with the next curveball life throws.

at the moment i am working with a digital media company correcting and checking data, but there have been a coupla rumours about lay-offs so my employment plans here in tx might change b4 i realise it (the only thing that's keeping me here is the job and not having a decent plan in place to travel, like a preplanned place to stay and a job)

    Hey cloudflower,

sorry this took me a while, sometimes i forget where i post :)
I live in daytona beach, across the street from the beach. the couch is comfy, I'm not sure how long your looking to stay for, if you don't have a car, you could stay however long you wanted. With a car I could probably only handle you for a month (landlords...). send me a message if your interested :), i'd love to talk to you more :)
