Ok so last night me and my boyfriend used this bondage stuff.. which turns me on like crazy.. but I've never had a blindfold on before (I don't think) and he put one me and at first I loved it but then something weird happend and I had a flashback which I've had alot of lately of a man and I can even picture his face now but I have no clue who he is and don't remember anything but it flipped me out and I honestly wasn't even aware that I was with my boyfriend anymore till he took it off and I looked at him.. something triggered something in my head for this to happen not sure if it was the blindfold the things he was saying or a combo of both but I've been having weird dreams and I'm scared there is something I'm blocking out that is starting to come back to me I know and I can feel something happend but all I get are little bits and peices of something.. does anyone know of anything I can do to maybe try to get in there and remember.. cuz this is driving me nuts.. literally..

you could try a therapist who uses techniques such as hypnosis and regression therapy and see if you can dig it out under controlled circumstances when you'll have help dealing with it.

You have you be wary of therapists, for the reason that they can actually implant false memories, either purposely, or accidentally.

This may all just be in your head... but, yeah, definitely explore why you are experiencing this. Ask yourself many questions, and try to relax. Relaxation has its way of bringing a flow of thoughts to you.

If you need it, I'll give you some thoughts to explore. Was your past fairly normal; Are there any parts of your life that seem to have gaps in it?

The human mind has a way of actually creating false memories, if you obsess over it too much. Remember, though, just relax.

If anything did happen to you, does it change anything about who you are today? It is important to think on that and realize that no matter what happened in the past - nothing can tamper with your present self, but you.

    Good luck, and don't worry.

I agree with the above poster that you need to ask yourself what roll this could play in your current life & if you remember any experiences or time lapses of no memory?? You say you can see the persons face..is it anyone you remember from your past? A friend of family or relative?

Is there anyone from your past (parent/sibling) that you feel comfortable & trust to discuss this with that may lend some insight if anything did happen or not?

It is possible also that you are remebering & associating the experience with a dream/fantasy you have had in the past.

I do not mean to sound calus or insensative!

However if it turns out to be a fantasy or a dream from your past and not an actual incident I'd love to know that I'm that man in your dream.

Seriously though I agree be weary of hypnotherapist as they can inadvertenly plant memories that never actually happened.

people are scared of hypnotherapy for no good reason. all it is is a deep state of relaxation, and you're still aware and in control of your conscious awareness. and btw, you don't have to be hypnotized to have memories 'implanted'.

Hollie, I know someone who began to have flashbacks like that, and it did her a world of good to talk to a therapist. I would recommend going that route. I know that it's scary to think along those lines, but it sure beats the hell out of going it alone or going with someone who doesn't have credentials or is properly trained. Talk to your doctor, first, and get the name of a very reputable therapist. A female therapist is a good choice, but is not necessary. Talk to some friends who have been to a therapist, and listen to their experiences.

Perhaps this is nothing. A good therapist will help you sort that out. If the woman I know had not gone to someone reputable, she might have continued to have flashbacks at inopportune times and her life might be miserable today. As it is, she is not miserable but is healthy. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
