If you are considering getting the new virus and adware protection from Windows-don't!-They don't have the bugs worked out of it yet and according to PC Magazine review'it misses over 25% of the virus's and nearly 50% of the spyware they put in to test it.
It also has no spam blocker at all-it does do a good tuneup for ya and it also does auto updates but without good virus protection it's worthless. I tried it out for two weeks-I took off Norton 2005 and put One Care on. I picked 3 virus's in that time. One completely shut me down from the net!-I had to pay a shop to run tests and fix it' then I had to completely format both drives.
I know some people hate Norton but I love it-and it's rated the highest for complete protection-higher then any other AV protection program.Kinda funny that the big bad Bill Gates would put out a product that only works part of the time-O wait-then theres the rest of my pc-I forgot-he's been half assing it for years!-I'm still kinda new to computers but I know these things shouldn't have so many ongoing problems. I want a Mac!

So let me ask this... How do you know a virus is present if you cant detect it???

    Of coarse Windows has viruses.

Well-I had been using my Norton 05' with no problems-but because I get the Windows Care' free with MSN I thought I'd try it. I installed it and after a week I started having slow down problems and it finally refused to open MSN' homepage at all-I couldn't get online.
I called MSN tech support and they said it was the ethernet card that was bad. The system is just over a year old but they said thats what it was. But' to be sure' I took it in to a shop and they ran tests and scanned it and found 3 virus's. They removed them' I took it home and formatted both drives and put Norton back in. The virus protection of Care One allowed these in and after reading the PC Mag review yesterday on that program I know thats how it got infected. The review said it skips alot of adware and virus's-it did and it cost me time and money-But it's 64 bit and flying right along now-now if Windows will finish the 64 bit version of Windows and get it launched I can have extra speed on board. You might want to read the review in PC MAG -they did alot of tests on it and the article is really good.

Thanks Adderall-to be honest with ya-I had this system built custom-about a year ago and I had no idea about what the guy put in it-Like I said-I'm still new to PCs-so' I'm not real sure on the 64 bit version' what all the advantages are-I read that they make computing large numbers much easier but other then that and added speed' I don't know-How can I really utilize the added bits?-Whats the best way to get the most out of this ?-It said the Windows 64 version is not ready yet.
I may have that download already-I just updated stuff from AMD-but' I'll check it out-what is it?

If you press alt-ctrl-del and get the task manager, does it have two CPU graphs there? If so, you have a dual core. Dual core is better than 64-bit. But 64-bit dual cores is better than any of it.

I custom built my system. It has an AMD 64 Athlon X2 (dual core) Brisbane 4000+ (2.1GHz) overclocked at 2.8GHz on external water cooling. It's a monster but it will process my DNA at the speed of light.

In task manager-/performance I see two graphs-top one says CPU usage-8%-the one below it says page file usage-so' I don't know -may not be dual core-I did install all those updates AMD-I read that Linux supports 64 bit-can you see better perfomance with it then Windows?

Yea-this must not be dual core-thats the AMD 64 ATHLON X 2-This says AMD Athlon 64-so' had I known that I would have had the guy put in the dual core-I have an Asus K8U-x motherboard-they any good?-The case is custom with a clear plastic side with multi colored lights blinking-it has 6 fans keeping it cool and it really is super quiet-it has 2 dvd burners and the monitor is LG 20" panel-really nice -real clear-I think it all came to about 1600.00-It probably would have been alot less had I known how to install it all myself-but-it's a good system and according to what I read these 64s are stout.

Ya know-somebody said that Windows needs to be reinstalled about once year he was right-Since formatting both drives last week this thing is super fast-Of the 350 gbs of HD-I'm now only using 17 gb total for both drives!-
After the cleaning it left tons of space. I was considering adding another gig of ram but' I don't need it. I just need to format it every now and then.Get rid of all the duplicate Windows files that build up-
Right now I have 10 videos downloading! lol-it may take 2 days to get em all in there but thats ok-Have you tried using Bittornado for your tracker?-it's fast and accurate-
