    Hey dudes,
I have to do an Art project for an exam at the end of the year, and the topic is
''A Dedicated Follower Of Fashion''. I'm using song lyrics to that song by the Kinks as a background for my prep sheets too.
What I'm doing is, drawing and writing about all the current fashion stereotypes, e.g. Hippy, Scene, Emo, Goth, Prep, Chav, etc.
I'm fine with this, but for a major part of the project we have to develop our chosen idea into either a Painting, or a Graphic Design (poster, stamp, book cover or CD cover) and I'm not sure what to do.
I want to somehow blend all the ideas together but I'm just not sure what to do..
So does anyone have any ideas they would like to help me out with? [IMG]
    I would be very grateful!
    Peace!

What do you want to say? I usually head outside and walk around when I'm blanking on something and stuff just comes to me. A friend used to grab a cup of joe and stare out the window of the coffee shoppe at the people walking by. I suggest taking a pencil and notepad with you everywhere and jotting down everything you think of, because you'll forget stuff and you probably have some great ideas worth exploring.

If you're doing a CD cover or stamp, you could get away with a really, really simple graphic design, like a simple figure outline with a second dotted line as a clothing pattern would have, or a shoeprint next to a bare footprint as if made by someone standing with one shoe on. If you want more complicated as in a painting you could put the different styles on people in a police lineup. You could also draw a guy immobilized by an assload of clothes like that kid in A Christmas Story only with bits of the different styles sticking out everywhere. Or a nude sitting peacefully in a messy dressing room. Or a faceless figure with features obviously painted on. Or maybe just a mask.

You'll have to explain what you're trying to say I'm sure, so I'd suggest using any ideas this thread generates as jumping off points for your own expression. Have fun!

if that was my assignement i'd drop the class. that is such a to me repulsive concept. well that's why i usually ended up droping out of many of the art classess i've had, because they were always built arround what were to me, such crappy assignments.

not meaning that to discourage anyone. i'd probably try and do something to illustrate the utter phonieness of trying to impress anyone, or otherwise attempt to satyrize the concept. i'm not sure exactly how i'd do that. i probably wouldn't be able to think of anything untill it was too late to impliment it. THEN i'd have some great idea about how i could have done, after it was already way too late to do me any good for the class. that's how those kinds of things have always gone for me.

my head is full of lots of creative ideas, but there all about the kind of world i'd RATHER be living in, not all the repulsive crap about the one we're all having to.

Thanks, I like your ideas! I'll keep thinking about them [IMG]
I know, I agree it's a crappy assignment alright. But the other options were 'My school and Me' or 'Fabulous Food'.
    ..and, just no!
