Startin up a head shop...need info

My husband and I have been wanting to start our own business and after a lot of thought we decided to start a head shop, there are none our immediate area. I am looking for as much information as possible on getting started, the liscenses we will be needing, costs and anyone who has origonal products that will sell that would be interested in supplying the people of Colorado. I make some products like hemp jewelry...my mom makes candles and tons of different herbal things she would want to sell, but I really need info on the business side of things. Any information you wonderful people have would be greatly appreciated THANKS!

oh god i have no clue,i know blowing glass is relatively easy though, and just about anyone CAN do it, i imagine youll have to have a pretty hefty amount of cash to begin with...

 

I'm not sure about all the details, but I know a business license is pretty cheap, I think you have to renew it every year. Just make a few phone calls to city hall and they can guide you through it, or send you to the office that handles it.

Gypsy Rose sells bulk items at low prices, and they have some pretty nice shit...clothes, incense, candles and so on. You can get a catelog (I doidn't spell that right, oops) from them or visit their website for more info. There are TONS of people out there that will sell pipes to you at the super low-low when you buy in bulk.

As far as I know, the only difficult thing about beginning a business is renting a building, stocking up, and so on. But if there are alot of hippies/heads in your town, then you should make your money back really quick.

I know that probably doesn't help much, but maybe it'll help a bit.

umm, i'd get some info as far as your state laws are concerened. theres been some major crack downs on paraphenalia thanks to bush and starting up a headshop might be way more hassle than you planned for. also be careful about the image you portrait to the community, you'll want it to look like a tobbacco accessory shop not a pot shop. also if you grow..headshop is a bad idea...even smoking while owning a head shop is genreally some bad news...remember leo's are pricks...not all but most

 

This is true. Around here, you cannot say mention bongs, marijuana or anything associated with it, or else the shop is supposed to throw you out. If they don't, the cops can bust them for selling items they knew would be used for illegal purposes. I don't know how far this law goes for the rest of the country though.
