Is it the job of a moderator to shut down threads they don't particualy like or agree with? Is it their job to make people mad or uncomfortable?-It shouldn't be-but right now I'm pissed-"SUPERMODERATOR" has' for no reason attached me for my no reason what so ever and I'd like to know why-She is doing the very thing we are not supposed to do on here-that is flame other members-why then would she say this about me-"you have a reputation of starting crap."?- Some may not agree with some of my statements but most do and I am getting PMs that support this-We are not here to attach other people and if you do you should not be allowed on here-If you take your job serious then you should fire yourself for posting that kind of garbage about me or anyone else. For one thing I have never "started crap" and if so when?-You make that ugly statement then close the thread without allowing me to comment! This forum is open-not closed and unless there are derogatory statements like yours being posted' there is no reason to close a thread-People come on here to talk-listen and learn and this won't happen if the threads are closed anytime you see fir-for no reason-allow the 1st amendment in here-unless a thread is offensive it should never be edited' shut down or removed-your statement about me is false and very offensive' and has no base in reality. I offend nobody' ever-not my nature-
Well-you may not mind having people tell you your full of shit-I do-I don't sit back and let people walk on me-ever-it's not about the net at all-it's about self respect-I "get out" plenty-

When you enter a website owned by someone else with clearly posted rules, you don't get to throw a hissy when they choose how to and when to enforce those rules. It's the effing internet. Go outside.
A moderator is someone who spends time trying to maintain integrity of the forums so that as many people as possible can feel welcome to express themselves/their opinions. Sometimes this means that unpopular things are done in the greater interest- and that many actions will be misinterpreted. Ideally, the best moderation is invisible but sometimes it becomes necessary for a mod to show his/her hand. The actions are too often put under the microscope of general discussion when pains are taken to avoid taking measures against an individual who is making it his or her business to undermine what those in charge are trying to accomplish. Above all, moderators are human- and like most humans can be pushed beyond a point of willingness to exercise normal restraint. The job of maintaining order so that there is something of substance maintained as accessible for many, many people, most of whom have given none of their own personal resources to help build or maintain but still seem to feel entitled to dictate how rules are to be interpreted and to open uncalled for discussion threads inviting debate and open criticism based on a narrow slant over a measure intended to avoid resuscitating a tired debate over which no new light can be shed- is greeted with little thanks but more scrutiny and disrespect... A good moderator knows how to measure his or her actions and give the benefit of the doubt when a given user focuses critical and disrespectful attention to actions that moderator may have done and to allow said member to continue participating, fully aware that the continued use will almost certainly result in unwarranted criticism and drama which are but a small portion of things which threaten the integrity of these forums and place the ability of all who enjoy them in jeopardy. I'm sure that a user with the intelligence and class of the original poster is capable of taking the time to reflect and realize that sometimes unpopular things need to be done... and that to protect the greater good in a resource of this scale, redundant and arguably pointless debates need to be set aside for meatier topics. Sometimes that necessitates someone making a subjective judgment and acting accordingly. It's inevitable that once in a while some toes will inadvertently be stepped on, while this is indeed regrettable it is very necessary on occasion.
Oh- and since all possible angles of this discussion have been addressed I anticipate no objections that this discussion be very gently put to rest. We appreciate the anticipated understanding of all interested.
