Hi, old and wise hippies! Could you help me to understand one thing. Is it possible to feel myself free living in the state? I can think what I want, wear what I like, listen to what I like, but how can I compell all other non-hip people to see a man in me? They relates to me as I'm not normal if I'm not like they. How can I be free if I need to earn money to feed me and my family so that I got to find a compromise with agressive society. I may not to care about it all but there's a constant inconvenience. Or I can be free just inside of me? Thanx a lot. Peace.
the truest freedom of all comes from having the inner strength to resist pressure from society to conform your thinking. you may be forced to conform your behavior to some extent to survive, but as long as you can retain your freedom of thought and self-respect you are free in the truest sense of the word.
:applause: very well put, fricken lovely even! ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// it's like my dad told me once,(having a simular conversation) "never let the bastards beat you down!" i'm personaly not out to impress anyone but me,and i find not trying to impress, to be mighty impressive!
Hello Eric the Red. I'd suggest that you simply accept the fact that you live in a totalitarian state with an obvious rule set. Believe in the basic goodness of yourself and everyone else, even if they are assholes. They have the _right_ to be assholes because that's an expression of freedom, too. But be sure to protect yourself from them. They _will_ hurt you if you let them. LIttlefoot 'Peace, like a river flows.'
Be content with as little as possible. The less you own, the less it owns you, and the less you need to sell your soul to pay your bills. Keep an open mind when it comes to life's decisions, like what to do for work, who to work for, or where to live. Most people in our society are enslaved, and they project that by trying to control you. If you blow them off them as I do, they resent you for being free, but that's their problem, even if they try to make it yours. Freedom comes at price, but it's worth it.
Hi Eric the Red how you feel inside yourself is your choice alone. Just don't make yourself a victim. If you do so - you give away your power. Then those will rule your world whom you sell yourself to, in the name of (freedom) - no - in the name of security. Maybe real freedom is to realize we came here (and will leave this world) as free, unlimited being, and are free to grow through whichever conditions we choose. None can take this away from you. None will do it for you either. Be free ... and it's not about music, clothes, job ... just remember who you are.
Right on. Take personal responsibility for who you are, and don't blame others for your problems. Freedom comes from within. If you seek for others to grant it to you, you're wasting your time.
Thank you all! You've really helped me. It's cool that these forums exist. You give real help to all young people who can't withstand to this world. Peace and love.
Eric-I chat with a free thinking young lady from the country of Georgia-next to you there; and she finds ways to express herself and keep her mind open. Have you tried meditation or playing a musical instrument?-Music is a real good way to open your mind and express yourself and thats where the freedom begins anyway. As far as working goes' well it's a nessesary thing we do to eat-all you can do is look for better and better places to work for until you have your own business. Your enviroment is yours to change-unless your locked up you have the power to move to better places. Good luck-don't give up
Freedom is a state of mind. You can be a prisoner and still be free, as long as you dont imprison yourself
She's right! I play drums and guitar and now I'm goin to start riding a bike. These are the ways to obtain freedom. In music, you know, freedom is in self-expression. And when I ride with my friends I feel freedom. I'm not like others. I live my way! That is freedom I suppose. During the riding at least. Peace.
