Oh, I'm aware of it. I just don't particularly enjoy hearing it, or to be honest, giving it all that much thought. And the girls I've lived with don't really want me listening in, either - there is a pretty big different attitude about it. Case in point: when living with guys, its a fairly common occurence to shit with the door open to keep the conversation going; I've never seen or heard of girls making this a habit.
I think there would be a lot of sexual harassment going on if there was a shared bathroom-a lot of situations that would make someone feel uncomfortable. That's just me.
why? is it more economically feasible to have same bathrooms? In my personal opinion, it helps to have seperate bathrooms for men and women because usually... not always but usually if there is big crowd, I see there is a big line for the female bathrooms, while no such problems exist for male bathrooms.
I think the notion that a separate mens and womens bathroom is like separation of blacks and whites is ridiculous. I like having a bathroom where I can walk and not worry if I'll walk into a puddle of pee. I like having a bathroom that, while it does get smelly, doesn't stink like ass 24/7. I have worked in public places and have been on bathroom duty in every one of those places at least 2 times, the mens bathroom is always more disgusting. Poop on the seat, pee on the seat....seriously, I think men weren't ever taught how to use the bathroom right. Grow up and get over it, you're not oppressed and separate bathrooms are a good thing.
I'm beginning to think I'm the only woman in the world that does that....my boyfriend tells me to shut up and slams the door on me.
Hm. Some valid points are raised here. But I personally would not use a unisex bathroom. I'm uncomfortable around almost all men. (excepting those that are family, my boyfriend, and friends, but i consider them more boys then men). I have anxiety attacks when getting a ride home with my friend's dad, because he's a man, and i'm in close quarters with him. If all bathrooms became unisex, I wouldn't ever use a public toilet. I'm constantly afraid of rape and molestation. (It happened to me as a kid). Secondly, what about the issue of upskirting? I wouldn't want to see myself taking a poo on the internet somewhere.
I do not want to share a bathroom with guys ! First of all, its always much dirtier than ours, and I like the privacy!!
Last year my dorm floor was coed. There were 2 bathrooms but we decided it would be easier to keep them both coed (they were at different ends of the halls). That was not long lasting. There were 29 guys and 8 girls, so there were always more boys in the bathroom than the girls- and many of the guys were really crude. They pulled the curtain away when they knew a girl was showering, puked in both bathrooms, and would loudly make comments about their bowel movements if they knew a girl was in the bathroom. Needless to say, less than a week later we made strict rules about the bathrooms going back to single sex. Most men are not that immature, but you'd think a bunch of 18-20 year old males would be able to conduct themselves better.
My only reason for any disapproval would be the fact that guys bathrooms are DISGUSTING. I have yet to find a men's room that doesn't nearly knock me over with the stink of it. If guys weren't so nasty with peeing on the floor and all that, I don't think I'd have any issue at all. I'm pee shy but only around females. For some weird reason, I get negative vibes from chicks, but not guys when it comes to natural bodily functions. Almost like a lot of girls just use the bathroom to stare at themselves in the mirror and god forbid anyone use the toilet for it's actual purpose.
