Right, me and the lads are planing our next trip to Dam. Were planing on booking it in January next year, and plan to be in Dam next summer. Were staying in Dam hopefully for around 10 - 14 days. Anybody got any advice about the best places to stay? We stayed in `Hostel The Globe` last time, but were planing on staying in a hotel next time, as close to the square as possible. As well as places to stay, if you can think of cool places to visit then let me know. Anywhere that is like our beloved "LOST IN AMSTERDAM", or just chilled out places in genereal were you think we might like. Cheers guys! (p.s. I have read through the Amsterdam guides posted by `koopa` and `skip`, which have been very helpfull, but I was just wondering if anyone else wants to pitch a few ideas)
can you tell us more about your group.... 1. how many people / how many beds do you need? 2. how amsterdam knowledgable are you all? first and second timers? 3. are you interested in apartments and houseboats or just hotels? 4. most importantly, whats your desired budget and your max? how many euro's per person per night?
1. Around 3 - 6 (Not essential that we all stay in the same room, around 2 or 3 to a room) 2. Its our third time going to Amsterdam. When we go we usualy stick to what we know. (Hence the thread) 3. Hotel. Stayed in a hostel last time, loved the experience, but towards the end of the week, began to feel a bit uncomfortable, and wanted a good shower, and a good nights sleep in a bed that didnt smell like cheese. Not bad mouthing the hostel or anything, but after a while we just wanted to be on our own and have a little more privacy. 4.How much do you think we'll need? The last time we went we stayed for seven days, and spent around £600 (around 800 Euros). That covered everthing, flights, beds and spends for the week. Baring in mind we arent interested in any `sight-seeing`. The money is just pretty much for food and gear. Hoping to book some cheap flights and beds at the begining of 2008. This time we were maybe thinking about traveling up to North Holland for a night, not to saty over night though. Just because last time in Amsterdam we were looking for a bit of night life, and someone told us that north holland is good for clubs etc
hey andy, telling me that you quote 800 euro per person for 7 days including all expenses doesn't help if you don't break it down for me and tell me 1. how much of that was airfare 2. how much of that was spending cash 3. how much of that was for the hostel what i'm asking is what is your budget PER PERSON PER NIGHT for lodging only? are your group members able to afford 40-60 euros per person per night for an apartment/houseboat? (probably the same price as hotels too) or are you guys looking in the 20-40 euro per person per night range (hostels and cheap cheap hotels)
