Well, I honestly have to say that -to me- all this 5-HTP bullshit is bullshit.

I took 200mg about 2 hours ago and i've already smoked a ton of kief and no effects.

They are enteric coated, so they're SUPPOSED of kick in later, but I don't know how much later than usual. Enteric coating means that the pill/capsule has a coating that does not break down in the highly acidic stomach, but in the less acidic (more basic) small intestine.

I don't know how long its supposed to take for food to pass from the stomach to the small intestine, but I'm pretty sure it's less than 2 hours.

Don't buy it if you're just gonna use it to trip of weed. Doesn't work as far as I'm concerned.

What? What is this "myth" about 5-HTP? I've never heard of any uses of it aside from being used as a mood-stabilizer. It's not something you're supposed to take for immediate effects...

i've heard of it being used under the assumption that it will help prevent negative side effects when using recreational drugs that effect seratonin levels (particularly MDMA and related psychedelic/empathogenic amphetamines). i've also heard of it being used regularly as a "dietary supplement" for a variety of purposes. as far as i'm aware, there is little evidence that it provides any substantial benefit in most cases, but i'm also largely ignorant of much of the medical literature, so i'm by no means an authority on whether or not it actually DOES have any affect on the mind or body.

but i've not heard of it being used to potentiate psychoactive substances or as a psychoactive substance itself. i've heard a lot of people talk about a variety of supposed benefits, but i've not heard of it being used recreationally in and of itself.

afaik its supposed benefits are tied to the fact that it is a precursor to seratonin. if i'm not mistaken, the reasoning is that when extra 5-HTP is present in the system, your body is more easily able to replace depleted seratonin related to recreational drug use.

exactly nesta. The only use I've ever known of it is for people to use it to combat the levels of depression following a heavy week of e-tardation.

I've read somewhere on the forums but and I checked on erowid and it seemed legit to me.

I DO feel content, not really in a neutral mood, but not in a good mood. It's hard to say. I just feel like I'm super chilled out and like I would get up to even do the laundry right now.

    If I had to.
