No. There should not be governmental control of health care. For no other reason than the notion that governments breed inefficiency. Give me traffic jams on the road before traffic jams in the ER.
any nation which requires its citizens to pay for health care, sometimes beggaring them in the process; is not, cannot be called a civilised society. this applies especially to the obscene so called health care system of the united states of america.
of course free health care for all, of the highest possible standard is the only ethical and civilised way to go.
First,we stop sending billions to other countries, other than for humanitarian needs.Second,we don't go to phony wars and squander the nations wealth and health, mental and physical.Third,we restore the tariff system so that the companies that are taking advantage of other countries poor and moving jobs and factories over seas PAY BIG for caring more about money than this country.Forth,we penalize companies that sell our government 100 dollar screw drivers,500 $ toilet seats,ect--we root out waste, fraud and this is a big one right now=INCOMPETANCE in government wherever it's found and fire those who are complicit, lazy or stupid.Sixth, take the profit out of healthcare by eliminating all middlemen --and in particular insurance companies.Seventh, change lobbying laws,so that legitimate needs can be addressed without the taint of money dictating who gets the attention. In other words, stop the buying of votes. Also ,just as a matter of altruism and to heal this medical mess, try to convince these "i've got mine, get yours if you can"people to change to "we're all in this together".There you go-seems pretty straightforward to me.And DON"T vote for republicans!!
Which would you rather pay for---grenades,bullets,bombs,ill will around the world, helicopters for right wing dictators, millions for retiring executives, juju prisioners------------or health care for your neighbors????????
I assume that those of you who would happily pay for others' healthcare are already giving away all of the money you make that you don't spend on food, shelter, and medical expenses, right? You don't own a car right? You never go out to eat or buy prepackaged foods, you never go on vacation, you never buy new clothes unless your old ones have holes, you never buy recreational drugs, beer or books, right? You cannot reasonably say that the government has a right to steal money from people to pay for healthcare then turn around and choose buying shoes or a coke or a car over saving a person's life. Unless, that is, you really don't think healthcare is as important as you say. Some food for thought: if the majority of people actually were willing to give away their money for others' healthcare, we wouldn't be discussing the issue here as everyone would already have healthcare, without government intervention. So, please, take a look in the mirror.
If I'm going to pay taxes, the government works for ME. As I understand how humans behave, herd animals or hive complex comes to mind. Civilization is much like a beehive. It has the same structure. The same belief in hierachy to control things. As our hierarchy is composed of a theory system called democracy, the will of the people is law. In theory. The problem with this is in the ability for special interests to sway public opinion through the media. You get herded by them, in other words. This is a failure of the government itself, because it did not pass laws to protect against the very thing that stands in the way of true democracy. What you can expect from such a corrupted government is the short end of the stick. A declining infrastructure. A declining international opinion of the US itself. A huge military budget that is a result of special interests starting wars and sustaining them. A healthcare system that boasts the finest technology in the world, if you can afford it. And that's the question, isn't it? The hive understands very well that prevention is in the best interest in the overall health of the hive. It quickly addresses any problems. The fact that our hive won't do this for us should raise the alarm. Where is it? We sit in our private little worlds playing with all our toys. Too overstimulated by them to bother with the hive that gives us the freedom to do as we please pretty much. We stand on this belief as it rapidly erodes beneath our feet. Democracy is dead. Socialism is in the bed nearby. The only bright future is in the undertaking business. Because everybody's too busy to be bothered. x
Yes most certainly, as many horror stories as you read about socialised medicine. Ask anyone in a country that has it whether they would do without, and they will tell you no. National Healthcare is one of the best things tax can provide. Socialism is in no way on the way out. Stop spending billions of taxmoney on war, and start spending it on the taxpayer.
Or decrease the amount of money stolen from them and spent. The same elete politicans who mess up everything will be the ones running the healthcare. I personally like being able to choose a doctor, not being assigned to one.
Do you honestly think everyone in the US would have the same privileges and standard of health care our elite politicians receive now? If so, you will be in for a rude awakening. I think a tweaking of our system, a mix of both is a more successful way. Please don't think i am a big supporter or fan of the current system but along the same lines i don't see people lining the streets and being turned away. There are several social welfare systems in place already that are being abused.
Denmark.Sweden.Switzerland.France.Germany.England.Australia.ECT-ECT-ECT-ECT-.ECT.--------But I suppose they are much dumber for having some of those stupid systems that take care of their citizens.Yeah, buncha dumb fucks.Probably why they're trying to get over here so bad.
State run health care seems to work better in European countries, since Europeans are healthier than Americans. The future of goverment run health care in the US will look something like this: You'll have mothers who rush their precious children to the emergency room everytime they sneeze, all on the taxpayers dime. You'll have hospitals making up all kinds of wierd new billing schemes, with the goverments blessings. Eventually, once the program is running out of money doctors with secretly be told to start euthanizing old people and anyone else who has a remote chance of dying fairly soon.
We have a mix over here. So you can get NHS treatment, but if you can afford it, there's nothing stopping you from using private Healthcare. It's designed purely to help those who, if they lived in the US, would be being told they couldn't afford life.
