there is a theory in the UK, that at the government secret chemical warfare station.........the aids virus was engineered, and susequently tested in africa. further, the theory is that the experiment got out of hand and the 'guinea pigs' passed the virus on. all the senior scientists who had worked on the project, began in a short space of time after the experimental testing, to die in mysterious circumstances, none remained alive.
I will go for government incompetence. They did a test with prisoners and it did not look like the virus did anything. So the prisoners lived and were released. However, ten years later...
there is a book called "the river - a journey to the source of AIDS" by i forget his name, possibly edward hooper? anyway he gives a very good arguement for the alleged fact that AIDS resulted from polio vaccines cultured on infected monkey liver tissue. simian HIV has been around for ages, and the theory goes it was transferred into human tissues by polio vaccines and became the HIV we know. the first case in a human actually occurred in the late '50's, but of course, no one knew what it was at the time. the irony the author tries to show in the book is that the infected sample tissues resulted from slack collection procedures, because two men were racing against one another to win the nobel prize for developing the polio vaccine. "surprisingly" the original samples which would prove or disprove his theory, and were still existing in freezers somewhere in europe, switzerland, i think (i read this three years ago,) have mysteriously disappeared. he rightly says that if there was nothing to hide, and conciences were clear, the scientific bodies in question would be only too happy to produce the samples and/or the documents. law requires them to be kept, so their vanishing is, essentially, a crime. i recommend this book (it's quite a fat one tho) for anyone who is really interested in the history of AIDS, and also because it has a clear message: the author says his intent is not to lay blame, but to make people aware, in view of all the current scientific experimentation with genetics, cloning, etc, that human meddling with things they don't know too much about may have unleashed the HIV virus into humans. no matter that the intent was right - a vaccine for polio - none-the-less, AIDS is now with us. how much worse, he asks, could it get in the worlds of cloning, genetic engineering and the other radical stuff going down in the scientific world today? there is potential, he claims, for great and lasting damage as well as good, and he issues a warning for people who are sailing in "where angels fear to tread" :uhoh2:
I saw a BBC documentary about it (BBC always has some of the best) and it seems it was from the polio vaccination creation to me.
