[IMG] Hey guys Emma here, im 16 and in december on the 10, ill be 17 along with my twin brother Jesse. Jesse will be happy to spend a night drinking with his friends which is good for him and I respect that ... but i was hoping for somthing a little more refreshing somthing a little more personal. Lately ive been day dreaming of some friends and i trecking through the USA or Canada. I was wondering if maybe some people would like to join me, i was hoping it would take place in the fall so right now basically or maybe when it starts to warm up a bit, maybe in the spring. If you would like to join me whenever this happens (which it will [IMG] eventually ) or if you have any advice and words of wisdom message me back ill be happy to chat.

    thanks again,
    Emma

sounds like fun, i thought about doing something like this for a while but decided to go to school instead.

Are you planning on just walking around or going to different trails around the country by car.

I'd love to go on some kind of backpacking trip. I'm on the west coast, in Eugene, Oregon. I went to Canada last summer with some friends and loved it. (Spent some time in Vancouver and at some glacier really close to whistler.) Lately I've been questioning whether or not I really want to spend any more time in school, and I think that a backbacking adventure would really help me to decide.

I love nature and the outdoors. If you are serious about this, then I'm interested.

Are you in school? I'm 18 and in my first term as a freshman at the University of Oregon, but to be honest I'd be willing to drop this school thing to gain life experiences with some other down to earth people around my age. Anyways, let me know how serious you are about this and maybe we can look into it even more.

I've been in school for the past 12 years of my life....I think it's about time that I actually traveled for a VERY long time.

Also, it's not like I am getting any younger, right now I don't really have any big responcibilities (ie wife/kids) so it's the perfect time.

I dont blame you...cities get boring. They are all pretty much the same...meauseam, restaraunt, concert venue, store, meauseam, restaraunt blah blah blah.

That it is, and that's how serious I am about this. Lately I've come to realize more so than ever that traveling and seeing new things is a MUST in my life. I went around Europe for most of this summer and I'm already ready to get on the move again. I can no longer be in just one place for an extended amount of time unless it is completely new. I suppose it would probably be best to at least finish this term, which ends in like 7 or 6 weeks, but if you are really trying to take this trip I would love to, although I do live on the west coast.

    What's your school situation like?

:S well for me school is so dramatic and so fake, everybody wakes up in the morning thinking oh if i do this, somone else might notice...whether its a good notice or a bad notice, its like walking on pins and needles you always have to be cautious and im tired of worrying so much so i just stopped going all together...... for the sake of my mum though im atleast rying to get a few credits she seems to think without highschool im giving up on life..so :( im doing all co-op for the semester and probs the rest of highschool.... *rolls eyes* oh well

but yeah theres a few of us trying to figure out whats going on weve been chatting back and forth about possible places and how were going to get everyone in one place to start either that or we just start walking to eachother :p not sure how its going to wrok but anyways PM me if you have any nice places you want to see, ive got Alginquin park down as a "maybe" i belive Utah is another place we wanted to go :S let us nkow what ur thinking :)

I never understand why people think school is such an important thing. It might be if you want a dull 9-to-5 job for the rest of your life though. For me, travelling is life. So I travel instead of slaving my life away. Live life instead and enjoy what you love to do most. Life is too valuable for that.

Having said that: you are beautiful.

I'm assuming you're a senior in high school then? Because I was last year, and I never did shit at school. I learnt much more on my own then I ever did in class. The thing I hate is when people make assumptions like you need high school and/or college to do anything in life. What's worse though is when people assume that you can't really learn if you are not in school.

I don't know if you have ever been to the north west (ie Oregon, Washington and SW Canada (B.C.)) but it's soooo bueatiful. Very green landscape, clustered with various hills and mountains. To be honest though, as long as we go somewhere I'm fine with it. I just want to travel, the states, canada or both. I don't really plan anything in life, but I know that eventually I'd like to backpack around S. America so this would be perfect for a sort of pre adventure adventure.

Also something to keep in mind,
Hitchiking is much harder when there are multiple people.

Oh, and do any of you use some sort of online chat thing? MSN or something along those lines?

    Edit:
I forgot to mention, if you don't like being constantly assessed then college and a 9-5 job certianly arn't for you, as now I've officialy done both.

well im grade 11 but ive been anti-school (so to say) since i can last remember, School has never been my thing. Ive always felt out of place and as if my opinions where always being shoved back into my mouth even in a class such as debate, nobody wants to deal with the different or the unique and even in a school situatuion where we are apparently safe ... we are still persicuted... its not the idea of school that bothers me though its....just the way its setup.
they excpect everyone to fit in with the crowd, and maybe its good for most people but theres some of us that cant conform to their expectations and we are never going too, weare who we are and thats all we ever going to be and if they wanted to help us they wouldnt try to make us mold into the same mold as everyone else its as simple as that, theyll never learn though.

yeah northern canada would be nice allthough i wouldnt suggest going in the spring when all the hungry grizzlies are coming out hibernation with cubs :( theres a lot of grizzlies in BC :S

but yeah were happy to go anywhere as far as i nkow :) just as long as we come back in one piece :) and yeah hitchhiking will be hard :S so were going to have to think of other means of transportation :S or just improvize

but yeah ive got msn ill Pm you with it :)

Count me in. I'm a senior in high school and I live about an hour South of Canada, in New York.
I've always wanted to see the country, but was never too into the typical tourist cities and guided tour methods.
Experiencing travel in an economical, nature-filled method is always the best way.

You guys seem to share the same ideals as me... this is great!

PS: young_deadhead- they're my favorite band as well. [IMG]

I live on the west coast, in Oregon so I don't know if I'd be the first person to get going...

If this does indeed go down though, it would work best for me in 3 weeks , I wouldn't want to wait to long, because who knows what could happen in that time. I could trek to the east coast/SE canada and meet up with you emma and whoever is in that area. Then we could figure it out from there?

It would be great to get to know you all somewhat before we embark on this adventure aswell.
