my parents constant bitching about my dreads finally got to me. Working in a restruant...esp as cook makes you smell A LOT! they blamed it on the dreads, i blamed it on my job, i live under their roof, so they finally won. It was a dready journey of 10 months, yet when they offered me 600 dollars to comb it all out and to start over...I had to take it. Some of my dreads were...awkward to say the least. I had my pencil holder dread that could fit a permanent marker in it and hold it and many other "ratty" dreads that i loved. Thank god it was only to comb em out...not to cut em. Anyways, any suggestions about starting over? Before, I did start with wax which was a BADDD idea and i treid to get it all out but apparantly i didnt becuase there were like...2 or three that still had wax after 10 months. thank god i found this community, cuz even in the college i go to there are nearly no dready kids so no one to help me out in my time of loss :'(

sometimes when we work in certain jobs,,,, i personally think back combing them is the way to go,,, cuts the horrible mess time down oodles as compared to just letting them do there thing..keep the waxes n goos out of the hair when ya work where your hair will pick up the smells of work , wash often, even if it means blow drying them every night or every other.... .. i am assuming since ya said long n cooking in a rest, that they must be pulled back and covered to cook anyway but perhaps double the wrap on yer head to keep the oderific smells of dirty fishy veggie oil from wafting thru the locks,,,.. i use a couple oils as well in mine,,, once or twice a week,, just dab a pit of whatever i feel like at the moment n run over my locks a bit,,, seems to mask the smells a bit as well ..i guess basically it would be to keep them under control from the start, given yer occupation n keep them clean n dry... dont want mold setting in either...

bummer dude, I cut mine after about a year or so and missed em for a while. Try a new hairstyle in the meantime if you want. Look at it this way... it's only hair and if you want em back it's not THAT hard. That's the great thing about hair, with enough patience almost anything is possible.
