I just did. Today. For the first time. I loved it! Have you ever eaten pomegranate, and if you did, how did you like it? I think it appears in fairy-tales as the fruit of eternal youth - is that so? What story - Alladin? It is also said to be the forbidden fruit of Eden. Pomegranate and not apple?
pomegranates appear in the story of persephone.... hades steals her down to the underworld; her mother demeter is distraught and causes the land to be cold and wintery; persephone eats three pomegranate seeds and has to stay in the underworld three months out of every year (ie: winter). yay greeks! pomegranates have some strange mythos surrounding them, that's for sure. my sister and i used to get them in our stockings as kids at x-mas. (we also put our x-mas lists in our shoes dec. 5th and we'd receive oranges, nuts and chocolate. yup, in our shoes.) it's pretty funny; pomegranate is a pretty popular flavor right now, but a lot of people haven't actually eaten the fruit. mmmmm.... pomegranates. delicious.
Pomegranates are also called chinese apples if that could clairify the garden of eden thing. I've eaten pomegranates since I was really young. If you soak a split pomegranate in warm water it is easier to get the seeds out. I love getting all the seeds out and eating them by the spoonful with a metal spoon. I don't know what it is, it just seems to taste better.
They're great to draw too What my ma does is she cuts a line and then rips it apart... Its looks much nicer and not so messy...
many many many!! i get at least one every year for my birthday, it's the only thing i ask for every year too.
I have loved them as long as I can remember...I have 2 in the fridge right now! Actually my fridge is insane at the moment, so much fruit. Mmm.
love pomegranates. it's a fruit that takes patience to eat. maybe i'll get a pomegranate for my birthday today. i like that idea.
Pomegranite is a beautiful fruit but becoming more expensive I was gonna tell ya the story of Persephoe but I see someone already did. I have eaten pomegranites since I was a very young boy and infact they are the first fruit I can remember being given in a christmas sack (along with some oranges) back then my mom told me they are eaten by picking the individual seeds out with a hat pin so we did but then I taught myself how to peel them properly and eat them like a peeled apple now - hahahah I am a greedy SOB at times
man, i love pomegranites. i go to a coffee shop up the street to buy pomegranite juice. if you like pomegranites, you should drink some of the juice. it is sooo good
I've had pomegranate juice before, but never the actual fruit. It's on a list of "gonna try someday" foods though, so I'm sure I'll get around to it at some point. I sure like the juice!!! love, mom
