1 month old, wax/palm rolling doesnt seem to be doing be any favours, only making them thinner. never seen frizz like it though... please opinionate! thanks! dan.
I would say... drop the wax, take out the bands and just let em go. The loops and frizz are totally normal. They will lock up better on their own. .
those loops are good. looping means that your hair is starting to lock up on its own, doing its own thing. get those rubber bands out, because if left in too long, they can make a nasty mess that is near-impossible to get out. same with the wax.
loops are excellent, you should welcome them. frizz is a natural by-product of the dread process and nothing to be worried about, it will eventually be sucked in by the dreadies as they mature. over all, your dreads look really good, it looks like you got a good start. but drop the wax, i can see it in your hair and that means you are using waaaaaay too much! trust me, it will ruin your hair. wax should never be used to glue hair together. your hair needs to figure out how to stick together and it just takes time. if theres a bunch of sticky shit in the middle of your dread, its not going to be able to dry out enough and youre gonna get some mold issues. search here for how to get wax out of your hair (i believe it involves very hot water) and then just leave em be.
thanks people! i should have explained that those pictures were taken a few hours after them being washed so that might explain the damp/grease/wax look, though i do agree that i have probably been overdoing it on the wax, ive just dipped them in some near boiling water and got out as much as i can, i'll probably repeat that tomorrow morning aswell. also ive taken out the bands thanks again!
they will frizz before they tighten. use some salt and lemon water to tighten it. Id ditch the wax and bands if i were you, but mebbe thats my personal prefrence
I wouldn't leave the bands in much longer, mine are a year old and i managed i found a band I forgot to take out, was an unpleasent goopy experience to say the least. So if you do keep them in make sure you get them all out!!
