It's because it desensitises the feeling between your hand & your penis / vagina, so it feels more as if someone else is doing it for you. I frequently use the FleshLight which, if you are unfamiliar with it, is a silicone rubber sleeve, moulded to the shape of a vagina (mouth & anus also available), which fits into a plastic tube in the shape of a flashlight. If you think about it, this is much the same as using a glove, except the thickness of the material is so much that absolutely no sensation of any contact with you own hand remains. When you simply masturbate by hand you automatically, albeit subconsciously, adjust the pressure to bring about a faster orgasm. When the ability to adjust this pressure is removed, or at least lessened, the duration of a masturbation session is increased, making the eventual orgasm far more overwhelming. If you don't have access to a FleshLight, try making a simple device, such as with some foam rubber (such as you might find in a cushion of an armchair / sofa), cover it wit cling film on one side. You can lube up the inside of the glove and just masturbate using that or you can just masturbate while wearing the glove.
