What about how Jesus differs from the church?? Man, Jesus went to the thiefs, the people that committed adultery, the sick, etc.... he loved them..... these people were his people. he believed in love. he was there for the people that needed love. that's why i love jesus. but the church....they just love those who..... well, fit the church.
One side of the street is a church. The other side's a liquor store. Both of them keepin' us poor. -- Chuck D
i feel what you mean on this... alot of churches are about popularity contest whether or not they acknowledge it that way. they have forgotten the real reason why a church building is built. i wont understand it either
yah, in a few.. i got a bit more liquour to "take care" of my cold for the night. hehe... nighteys sweetie.
That is true... Jesus came to save those in need... the meek, the poor, the outcasts of society... however, he told them, "Go and sin no more".... That's why I love my church. We're about religious truth, not who is who in the building.
The reality of Jesus: Just about every historian believes that Jesus really existed. What they do also believe about it is that the events that were reported about him got exagerated every time the story was told over. In the early days there were no bibles and the events were kept alive by mouth to mouth. Later on, when the church became it - you could only go up when you'd tell the Jesus story. If anything you said might've made things look bad (even true) you could be excommunated. This might sound silly today but in these days if it happened to you, you couldn't even buy bread anymore in your village. I've read the bible twice. Really. If someone existed like that today, they'd probably just ignore him and qualify him as "mentally challenged". The bible is a nice story. Unfortunately most of it is bullshit. Sure, if it was all true, it would be nice. Wouldn't it be great to die and then be alive all of eternity and happy and all? Sounds a little too good to be true... Anyway, if someone is dead and reading this, I'm in the phone book, give me a ring and tell me about it...
Obviously you haven't been to my church. We love everyone, and it doesn't matter who you are. Anyone is welcome.
I've noticed that the big churches and the ones full of ancient people usually suck, but I used to go to one that was amazing. At least the preacher was. Some of the people who attended still sucked, but you're gonna get that no matter where you go...church or not. I love it when they can teach you about the love of God rather than the "you are a sinner and you will rot in hell" shit. I'm not going to hell, if such a place exists. And I don't think most other people will either.
Its funny to me that hardcore Christians are living their lives just to die...and when they do, they expect everything to be exactly like in the bible, the gate, st. peter, etc.... Some of them deny themselves so much enjoyment, so that when they get to this fairy tale land, they can finally have a good life.
I would say that about 80% of all religions (the other 20% is because of the sects) are wonderful...on paper... For example - in real life - you got to a catholic mass, as the basket goes to the further rows, people put more and more money to outbid each other. Then when they leave, they take their car and if someone cuts the road, they swear after them and try to physically hurt them... Yet, since they said prayers for like 1 hour, in their heads, they feel they are within god's configuration... Right away, you're in trouble when you read the bible. It's supposedly a manual on how to live - the thing was written 2000 years ago... Jesus doesn't talk often about speed limits, internet and so on...
Friend, I love you, this is exactly what I think. The story got told and told, until his mother was a virgin and he walked on water.
well, im not saying anything about EVERY church... im sure there are some cool ones. however, most churches ive been to, i think would piss jesus off really really badily.
