They all bow to their lobbiest payroll. They all fund their campaigns through insurance and other funds that buy their allegiaance. Dennis and Ron Paul are the only ones I see that can't be bought.
No one got to them, they've also bought into the political line. They all attend the same parties, rub elbows with what they think are the influential people, trouble is they none of them see the working US citizen as influential. Thing is they underestimated US.
I don't find it all that strange. The more remote your prospects of getting elected, the more unrealistic the policies you can support, since you know they will never be implemented, e.g. Ron Paul. Serious candidates like Hillary have to be more realistic. The democrats know they are stuck in Iraq, they won't be able to just immediately withdraw as soon as they get in office. They are right to be angry that Bush is passing this disaster on to them, and they can criticise everything that has been done up to now. But looking forward, they know they can't come up with anything radically different than is being done right now. Everyone wants out, the question is how and when, the answers are not that simple.
Yes, the answer is INCREDIBLY SIMPLE. End it the same way we ended the Vietnam War. STOP FUNDING THE FUCKING WAR! Just watch how fast the contractors pull out if there's no more money in the pipe for them. Watch how fast we pull out our diplomats when there's no longer a mercenary security detail available. Watch how fast we can pull out 160,000 troops. It don't take all that long. And the Iraqis will all be DANCING IN THE STREETS when we leave, NOT killing each other as they would have you believe. Of course we'd have to leave a LOT of materiel back in Iraq, and who knows who'll get their hands on it. But that is NOT OUR CONCERN! SUPPORT THE TROOPS! STOP FUNDING THE FUCKING WAR!
Why would the people who bomb food markets, mosques, hospitals, and the UN suddenly be full of love and peace when the US leaves? We left southeast Asia and the Khmer Rouge killed a million people. Most of the killing is Iraqi against Iraqi. The US is keeping these sides apart. Pull the US out and all hell could break loose. The country could split at end up at war with Turkey or who knows what. That's what people on the ground are saying. Maybe that would happen no matter how long we stay, maybe its a problem that can't be fixed. But its a pretty serious problem.
That is an OUT AND OUT LIE! In 1970, the US deposed Prince Norodom Sihanouk and replaced him with pro-American General Lon Nol. So once again we interfered with the politics of a sovereign nation. It was that and our INCURSION INTO CAMBODIA that undermined the gov't there, leading to the ascendancy of the Khmer Rouge. It wasn't pulling out that was the problem, it was GOING IN THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE! Sorry Pepik, you can try to rewrite history all you want, but you're not gonna get away with it on this website! I SAW what happened during those years. WHERE WERE YOU? You can't just READ CONSERVATIVE BUSHIT and act like you KNOW what happened. YOU'VE BEEN TOTALLY BRAINWASHED, dude. When will you OPEN YOUR EYES TO THE TRUTH STARING YOU IN THE FACE ON NEARLY EVERY PAGE OF THIS FORUM? BTW, Pepik, another factoid you may be unaware of... THE US gov't LIED TO US back then about both Cambodia and Laos, claiming we had NO ACTION by our military in both those countries. We violated the sovereignity of those countries, and what we did there WERE CRIMES against humanity. Look it up, dipshit.
Here's more about Cambodia from Wikipedia's entry... Nixon, angered at what he perceived as a violation of the "agreement" with Hanoi after the cessation of the bombing of North Vietnam, finally authorized the covert air campaign.[8] The first mission of Operation Menu was dispatched on 18 March, and by the time it was completed 14 months later more than 3,000 sorties had been flown and 108,000 tons of ordnance had been dropped on eastern Cambodia. And all that was done SECRETLY without the US public and most of Congress aware of what was going on... After the US deposed Sihanouk... This led Sihanouk to immediately establish a government in exile in Beijing and to ally himself with North Vietnam, the Khmer Rouge, the NLF, and the Laotian Pathet Lao.[12] In doing so, Sihanouk lent his name and popularity in the rural areas of Cambodia to a movement over which he had little control.[13] The North Vietnamese response to the coup was swift. PAVN began directly supplying large amounts of weapons and advisors to the Khmer Rouge, and Cambodia plunged into civil war. Lon Nol saw Cambodia's population of 400,000 ethnic Vietnamese as possible hostages to prevent PAVN attacks and ordered their roundup and internment.[14] Cambodian soldiers and civilians then unleashed a reign of terror, murdering Vietnamese wherever they found them. On 15 April for example, 800 Vietnamese men had been rounded up at the village of Churi Changwar, tied together, executed, and their bodies dumped into the Mekong River.[15] They then floated downstream into South Vietnam. Cambodia's actions were denounced by both the North and South Vietnamese governments. So first the US bombed the SHIT out of Cambodia, no doubt killing thousands of people. Then this puppet government implemented the GENOCIDE of native Vietnamese, while the US looked the other way. So everything that happened subsequently was due to this VIOLENCE unleashed by the American Air Force and then by an American proxy puppet, on a previously NON-VIOLENT, NEUTRAL country! And guess what, I protested the Bombing of Cambodia at my High School and later, College (student sit-ins). So I know of what I speak. Again, where the FUCK were YOU Mr. know-it-all, when this was going on? HUH? Fuck you and your BUSHIT LIES and revisionist history! What the FUCK did they TEACH you in school? Where did you go anyway? U of W? BTW, how much you getting paid for these BUSHIT posts? We need to split that income...
I can't respond to this because when I do it you call it off topic. You haven't explained why the massive Sunni-Shiite violence would suddenly stop when the US leaves though.
It's already slowing down, or didn't you bother to listen to Gen. Petraeus, that wonderful LYING, warmongering politician? MAN DON'T YOU EVEN READ THE FUCKING NEWS? Do you LIVE IN A HOLE in the ground? Do I have to tell you EVERYTHING? That's because of the mass relocation of MILLIONS OF IRAQIs from their homes to sectarian enclaves. Which has ZERO to do with American forces being in Iraq at this point. We leave, they will sort it all out themselves, probably a LOT faster with fewer deaths than with our presence interfering in their domestic politics.
Who stuck us in Iraq, it wan't the democrats. Bush was going to smoke them out and get them dead or a live, that apealed to you wrestling fans. Funny how Bin Laden shows up during every election cycle. I tremble I shake...you can only call wolf so many times.
And to think this started out as a poll about taking to the streets after a fictional invasion of Iran. Skip I have a ton of respect for you but there is no way Americans are going to take to the streets for anything. Corporate America has most of middle America fat, comfortable and distracted. As long as the average Joe has toys to play with and junk food to add to his massive, sit in front of the TV and computer all day ass he isnt going to do a damn thing. We live in a country where you can drive through the housing projects where our so-called poor live and see satellite dishes on every other apartment and enormously fat assed welfare princesses outside on their cell phones. You think those people give a shit about Iran or Iraq or anyplace that doesn't sell lottery tickets? Maybe we do need a revolution but it isn't going to happen. Not until Americans understand what it really means to suffer. Adolf Hitler said it best: "What good fortune for those in power that the people do not think" People do not think about anything but themsleves. Thats why Hitler was able to do what he did in Germany and that's why Bush gets away with the shit he pulls in America.
You have to be kidding. Hillary is only being taken seriously because her campaign works for the neo-cons. Funny that a Republican like Ron Paul is minimized. Why is that? Because his platform threatens their agenda. They would rather campaign against Hillary...like they did with Kerry and Gore. And Gore's Nobel prize has him waiting in the wings to take over the democrat nomination if Obama and Hillary prove to be non-runners. It's a big joke.
Serious candidates= Guilliani, Clinton, Obama, Thompson and Romney...according to media coverage they are the only serious candidates? Guess what they've been hand picked by their corporate bosses, and I am not buying into it. Ron Paul is a Republican, he's an educated man, and he speaks openly without hedging his bets. He's a serious candidate, one of only a few.
Let's look at these "serious" candidates: Guilliani, we are supposed to elect him because he was in New York right after 09/11. Clinton, she's a woman and if you elect her you may get the benefit of her husband's experience. Obama, he's black and reasonably personable, but not extremely experienced. Thompsom, is an actor and we all recognize him from Law and Order. Romney, is a Mormon, handsome and a family man.
I hope we do Bomb Iran's powder plants ? If you really think they are being used for power you are blind they are being used to enrich uranium bottom line. And I don't know about you but no way in Hell I want Iranian Mullahs in control of Atomic weapons ?????
as USNavyDeadHead said .. we won't do shit, we're fat, dumb and happy in america .. we'll only be pissed off if it disrupts the flow of oil, which we don't get that much of from the persian gulf anyway, but would cause a spike in the price. then we'll crab, piss and moan, pitch a bitch but that'll be it. americans only get united when brainwashed or in a sudden catastrophic disaster and then only until the next big news item.
usnavydeadhead was right..... itd take americans in america dieing to get things rolling as far as a revolution attempt is concearned.....but thatd be quickly put down if people in other countries arnt waking up wile everyone is bombing each others countries....it that was the case....i doubt the mass media could keep the un together....let alone soldiers obedient they brainwash em good in the army.....but i dont think losing a loved one would be brushed off
