They work quite well. Obviously theres no carb so clearing it wont happen but thats not a big deal. My only advice to you is make sure when you get it you separate the mouth end from the pipe head (sorry my terminology is not good) and take out any filters that might be in there. Alot of tobacco pipes come with a smoke filter built in and this could take away from the effects of the pot.

Oh they tend to hold alot more than your average bowl as well so you can pass one pack among a good amount of people and all get nice and toasted.

they are great for blaze-rides. they suck to clean though. they have a very narrow tunnle for the smoke to travel through and they will get clogged with resin quickly.

^^yea that would be the one thing i was going to mention. all wooden pipes and clay pipes with small tubes clog up fast. other then having to clean it often it would work quite well.

they aren't made for smoking cannabis, but they will work. if you go this route, avoid cheap pipes. cheap briars are far more likely to have filters (dr. grabow, for example)

i would never recommend a briar for smoking anything other than tobacco for a number of reasons, but it will work.

cleaning will require solvents and bristled pipe cleaners. theres no carb. to fill the bowl will require large quantities. but it wont be a bad smoke, really....but you may need to dig out some of the ash in between hits, as pot isnt very likely to stay lit for too very long unless you're passing it in a big circle and its constantly being hit.

but if you buy a tobacco pipe for use with pot, make sure its either meerschaum or briar, or else you may get bad flavors with it.

I have one that I've used for almost a year for both tobaccy and mary j. It does get clogged easily, and cleaning it is a bitch. Those are the two main issues with them. I love how big the bowls are. I could fit an eighth in mine at one point. (It gets clogged easier n ow when I pack tighter bowls)

if cleaned properly, it shouldnt be difficult to clean, but smoking cannabis out of it WILL make it more difficult.

if you use it for cannabis, you need to learn to care for it in the same fashion as you would if used for pipe tobacco.

i personally dont recommend using a pipe for both tobacco and cannabis, unless its a grass pipe primarily and you just happen to like mixing the two together (gross, in my opinion, but whatever)

with my briars i dont even like mixing up what type of tobacco i put in it often. i stick primarily to english blends, and try to avoid straight up aromatic blends. i will occasionally go for a very mildly aromatic "crossover" blend, though.
