Show yourselves! I know I can't be the only one! I started playing guitar about one month after I started smokin'. So, I think that's about 7 months now. I have an ESP Viper 50. And I can play One, a bit of Nothing Else Matters, the intro to Stairway to Heaven, intro to Crazy Train, The intro to Unforgiven (lead and ryhtym), Target Audiance, Beautiful People, Slutgarden, Angel with the Scabbed wings, and a crapload of my own stuff (not that it's special or anything lol). Show yourselves, what's your guitar and what can you play on it?
=) Hikaru has a generic Esteban acoustic guitar, and a Squier Strat electric to jam on. Both are missing the first string because they broke and Hikaru hasn't gotten to the store to buy new sets. =P C'est la vie. Hikaru can play a few songs ... Good Riddance by Green Day ... majority of Basket Case, the easy song Brain Stew ... a few others. He can play some parts of some songs by Blind Guardian, and is trying to get down Stairway to Heaven as perfectly as he can; it is taking quite some time! =P Hikaru can also play the acoustic parts in some Flogging Molly songs quite well; such as What's Left of the Flag, Rebels of the Sacred Heart (almost), and Drunken Lullabies. These are the most fun and interesting songs to play, he says. =) Hikaru can play a few other random things ... some of the riffs by Pantera (but only because they are from Doom music) for example. Hikaru bids you good luck with your guitar-playing!
Yeah, I've been playing for about 10 years. I can play a lot of contemporary Jazz, neoclassical rock, progressive metal, progressive rock, and classic rock. I used to play heavy metal when I was younger, but I'm not so into it anymore. I used to be in a Metallica cover band called "Life 'til Leather", but that didn't last long. I can play anything by most metal, rock, classic rock, progressive rock bands, although my true passion is and has always been 80s power rock and neoclassical rock. I can play anything by people from Yngwie J. Malmsteen to Saxon. My favorite bands are: Symphony X Van Halen Queensryche AC/DC YES Alice Cooper Rush Queen Journey Bit of a mixed bag for favorites, but Journey has to be my favorite of all time. I'm in a progressive metal band right now called "Chain's Embrace" and yes, sometimes the use of pot makes me play a little better, but generally I over-do-it and end up tired and lethargic instead.
I only just figured out how to play louie louie on guitar, somehow, I dont think anything is going to help my learning ass to play better. but I know that things sound better, so it could be in the mind. or not...
Hikaru has decided to speak in the third person for the same reason that Razorofoccam decided so on other threads. Hikaru uses 'Hikaru' to describe all that he is. As it was explained by Razorofoccam ... it shall now be paraphrased here: What is 'I'? What part of you is 'I'? Does 'I' include your body? Your skills? Your experiences? Your mind? Or is 'I' all of them? Your entire being? If so ... when 'I' am sick, are my skills sick? Are my experiences sick as well? No. 'I' refers to the ego. The ego is a part of us, NOT all of us. If 'I' think something, does my spleen think it as well? As you use 'I,' that would mean that my legs, arms, eyes, nostrils, and every fibre of my being also 'think' when clearly, this is inaccurate. 'Hikaru' is, as Occam explains, "the totality of the being that now speaks to you." If Hikaru uses 'I,' then it is his ego that speaks to you, But the ego is stupid and irrational. The ego does not know how to speak with experience, skill, logic, or reason. So it is Hikaru that speaks to you, "a synthesis of all he is." This was paraphrased from the words of Occam; Hikaru does not claim that he thought of this idea himself. However, Hikaru does realize that Occam's explaination is quite logical, and thus has decided to use this part of Occam's logic.
Right here, been playing a little over a year and a half, hmm.. I play/listen to a lot of classic rock, love reggae, i've written some stuff. I've got a fender acoustic and a decent peavey strat copy/practice amp.
I've been playing guitar for a couple years now along with smoking. Very chill thing to do when your high except i forget a lot of the stuff i make up....oh well
Hikaru is a nob. The total I of Hikaru. All the sum of the parts of Hikaru being more than the constitutional parts thus being nob. He is the Nob of I Hikaru. He is the totality of being of the Hikaru nob. Hikaru has the total being of nob. Nob = Hikaru.
Oh, come on... that third person thing is actually pretty kewl cute ^^ Well, I can play the guitar, but my first instrument is really the piano, started when I was 5, I guess... BUT i'm not a stoner... :& sorry
ive been playing for about a year now. i can now play over the hills and far away, wish you were here, crazy on you, a few of the who songs, some other zeppelin songs, tears in heaven, summertime (janis joplin) only a part of that though, and a bunch fo other little parts from songs. im self taught too, so i think im doing pretty well
i forgot to post that ive been smoking about a year and a half now, but been a real stoner about a year now.
DSPSYSSTS: What, exactly, do you mean by "nob?" Your terminology has Hikaru confused. Kitaro has not ever before tried marijuana? This is quite suprising ...
hehe you guys are cool, occam and hakiro. Bill plays guitar as well, he has played since the start of last year. bill has slacked off on his thechnical progression thsi year, preferring to aim to his own musical writing, and performance worthy pieces; bill has decided recently to pick the solos back up though. I love playing guitar, i have one near me all teh time. ive got an epihpone SG cheap yamaha electric acoustic and alstly, my very old (got it when i was like 7 but lost interest early back then) classical guitar 'riviera'. this is such a shit looking and seeming guitar but its my favourite. its a classical with a normal width fretboard so its good to play too. such a warm sound.. and it cost like 90$ AU back then. now i wudnt sell it for teh world. I cant play the tunes i think of high tho, theyre too complex often. I could prolyl work em out when sober aftereawrds but id need to record my humming and stuff lol
"hehe you guys are cool, occam and hakiro." Hakiro? ... well! The least you might do is make an effort to spell Hikaru's name right, Stobnerell ... (laughs) Or someone might confuse him with Kitaro based on their identical avatars. =P Good luck with playing the guitar though. Hikaru finds it easy to play songs while he is high, but hard to write.
