I've seen some basic kits with the tools and such at craft stores, but I'm still lost on the kinds of beads and such.....any advice?

Hm, I'd suggest getting started making hemp jewelry. I don't know quite what you're asking but for a beginner I'd definitely suggest you try to master macrame. Even the most amateur macrame pieces look stunning & advanced to those who have never practiced the art.. at least in my opinion. If you want some tips on macrame basics PM me. All you'll need is a roll of hemp (pick it up from WalMart, whatever,) maybe some beads, and scissors. It's pretty chill.

First off, I'm very excited for you. I too recently started beading, and let me tell you it is addicting. Just a tip, glass beads will cut wire- never mix the two. I suggest buying a good beading book. It will explain everything you need to know. You can also take a class to learn more. My personal favorites are tourquise/wood/coral beads. I also prefer wire. If you have any specific questions feel free to pm me, and I'd be happy to help. Like I said, I just started beading myself, but my sister-n-law is a pro at this, so if I can't answer a question for you, I know she can. Good luck. Peace
