Kimberly Kay Erwin, 40, was on her way to Oregon City with her husband and two daughters when the vehicle they were in was struck broadside at the intersection of South Redland Road and South Clear Creek Road in Estacada around 9:45 a.m.

According to police, a Ford F-350 pickup truck that was hauling a large piece of excavating equipment struck the family's Mustang when it entered the intersection. Police said the truck was traveling at the legal speed limit.

Kimberly Erwin was killed in the crash, but her husband, 51-year-old Michael Erwin, and their two daughters, 16-year-old Kayla Erwin and 14-year-old Kiera Erwin, survived. They were taken to the hospital. Kayla has life threatening injuries. For her younger sister kiera, was only left with a few broken bones and a punctured lung.

A member of the family informed KATU that a fund has been set up at U.S. Bank under the name of the Erwin Family Donation Account to help them pay for medical costs.

The driver of the other vehicle, 22-year-old Andrew Altman, was also taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are now trying to piece together what happened.

Kayla, has a broken pelvic bone, broken lower spine and a fractured skull with a blood clot inside of her brain. The doctors think she might not make it.
Kiera, Has a shattered broken arm and leg with broken ribs and a punctured lung. She has to use a breathing machine thing to help her breathe.

Those two girls are my friends, they have been through so much..I didn't expect them to go through this...let alone lose there mother...the one person that actually took the time to understand there problems and there struggles.

    R.I.P. Kim Kay Erwin. <3
