Recently I've been lurking around for a new bass guitar. I'm not looking so much at what it sounds like as much as its look and price. My amp can make any bass sound good. I've got a pretty low price range ($250 American or below) and I can't find a good bass that has kind of a metal/psyche look to it. They all have giant treble horns. A little help?
Well, let me assure you that your amp won't make any bass sound good. How can it if you can't get a feel for the bass? Go play as many basses as you can at your local shop. Find which one feels best to play. I like my Samick CR1 just as much as any fender, musicman, peavey, ibanez, esp or whatever brand you can think of, but others could play it and hate it. I also have a Peavey which sounds real funky, but I'm getting side-tracked. Point is, don't go by what others say, go play some and see what you like best, ignore brands and stuff, and if you're buying it for looks you might be in for some disappointment.
usually the best looking basses turn out to be shit. Personaly the best bass ive ever played was one of the worst looking, a rickenbacher. ^lol only bass i got is a peavy, everyone sais is sucks but its the only bass i can play with passion.
Look into Ibanez. Ther SGR or Soundgear line of basses sound pretty good for the price. Or maybe look around for some used basses. Used Fender basses usually sound okay if that's the direction you want to go in. Just make sure it's not a Squire. Those are crap.
