In about two weeks is the halloween date dance, and me and my date are going to be pebbles and bam bam. But I'm really skinny, I run cross country, but I have no upper body at all. Whats the best way to build up your arms and more importantly, your chestal muscles (dunno what their called). You can see my ribs in the middle of my chest, kinda. and I know that there have been threads about skinny guy's being hott, but I guess I'm out of shape, in technical terms. And a seperate question- what do girls like in a guys ass? I don't get it.
question - do you want to stay a cross country runner? do you access to a gym, that has a squat rack? to gain muscle, you'll have to eat, and eat lots. workout while increasing resistance.
well, ya I want to stay a cross country runner. Ya, some of my friends talk about eating a lot of food along with protein shakes, but thats probably not gonna happen. I guess I'll stick with push ups. Or maybe some weights.
are you still in season as a XC runner right now? you could add some muscle mass after season is over...the distances you run in XC are not good for muscle gain.. you can definately hit the weights, focus on the big movements - squats, deadlifts, bench, rows, pull ups. you can do all those without going ot the gym too...bodyweight stuff. add in a sandbag and you got our added resistance...
but in 2 weeks....you not gonna gain much in terms of noticable muscle mass...even if you were genetically gifted, wouldn't happen. and you run XC, so thats just makes it even harder. i'd wait till season was over, then focus on gaining LBM through the off season...and then you'd still be able to do XC next season and be a faster runner
Protein shakes will help. The extra calories will help you put on weight. As someone said, do core exercises. Bench press and pushups are the best solution if you want to build pecs. Try and do the bench with dumbells. It works the muscles a lot better then with a regular barbell.
he doesn't need protein shakes...he's growing, he just needs to eat whole foods - lean meats, veggies, beans, fruits.... then, if he decides he isnt' getting the quality nutrients he needs, he can get some protein powder. but i really wouldn't recommend protein powder until he starts eating whole foods. supplements shold be the last thing to consider....training hard, eating right are the top 2. i can point you to some really good programs online if ya want. but don't just google it, otherwise you're bound to end up with crap
Thanks everyone! Ya, I guess I'm kinda screwed. But I'll start doin stuff just at home till XC's over(Though I'll still run)
im in the process of bulking up but iv had a large body mass anyway...all i use is muscle recovery powder shakes, and thermobol which is a fat burner you'll probably need the recovery as well as something like progain or cyclone (maximuscle) plus a supplement for muscle definition. i do 3 sets of 12 reps on everything i do...pull ups push ups and sit ups... do bicep curls, tricep extensions and chest press one day then rotate to shoulder press, seated row and 40 degree chest press...this allows u to use different muscles each day and hopefully prevents muscle strain.
^^^ How about a good natural diet and some hard work. I've got about 10 cords of firewood that need splitting.
yea, no a 16 year old does not need all that supplement shit you are telling him to take. and 3 sets of 12 reps on everything is fucking stupid
Yeah, if you're intrested in gaining bulk, I'd wait untill you're seasons over. No joke. 3 reps of 12 pushups and situps? That's going to be punishment for my 5 year old if he ever says the lords name in vain. And I don't go to church... who decided 36 was a great number?
he was asking advice on how to gain upper body strength...that's what i do and it works... you do it on about 70kg weight for muscle strength and definition... i.m 17 and dats wot i use...
Nothing personal. It's just a bad exercise plan. 36 pushups is nothing. You should try pyramids if all your doing is pushups and sit ups. Do 5 pushups, do 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 25, 20, 15, 10, 5. Pyramid your situps too.
DMan - I was really skinny at your age, and developed a good looking upper body by training for rock climbing - doing chinups (palm side away from my body), weight machines that work the chest muscles and forearms, and back muscles. Many years later, I still look great (I exercise regularly and have a machine that works the upper body). Skinny guys are hot, because they are more flexible than muscular hunks (who will be fat and bald when they hit 40). And if you have buns of steel, girls love to hold them when you are inside her. They can feel the power of your thrusts. But you are too young for that stuff... And as a cross country runner, your legs should be really muscular and hard, and girls love that.
