I hate them. They're absolutely pointless. We're not sharks. In the age of fluoride toothpaste, we no longer need another four teeth to come along in later life to replace ones we've lost. If they were in any way useful, I might at least accept that the intense pain I'm currently in is in some what worthwhile. But like all body parts made redundant by evolution, they're at best unnecessary and at worst hugely inconvenient. Any tips for tooth pain? I can't go to the dentist as there's not enough of a tooth showing to pull out. I'm dosed up to the eyeballs on ibuprofen and paracetamol. Are there any more effective painkillers out there?
Get em out man. I had the same problem and mine weren't up either, I had to have surgery to get them cut out, and yeah it sucked, but man it was so worth having them out. No more intense headaches.
ugh, no clues on what to tell you for pain relief. i've had one of my wisdom teeth removed, luckily there was enough left so it could be pulled, and i was on Nitrous so I didn't mind too much. I think they gave me the equivalent of Co-codamol (paracetamol with codeine) for the pain afterwards. i agree you should go ahead and get them removed. pain now, but lack of pain later.
Stop complaining and think yourself lucky. I first felt the ends of my wisdom teeth coming through a few years back. After Ellie's accounts of the process of having them pulled out, I was dreading it. But as time went on, I realised they weren't hurting much. In fact, they were coming through fine and not hurting at all. I thought myself lucky for a few weeks until I discovered the truth. As you say, the wisdom teeth are a relic from a bygone age where they would replace the teeth lost from previous injuries. These teeth would come through right at the back of the jaw, sitting comfortably behind the other back teeth. The problem is that, as humans evolved, the jaws became shorter and the wisdom teeth space has shrunk. It didn't take long for me to come to a shocking conclusion. By having my wisdom teeth come through with no pain or problem, nature was insinuating that I was a bigmouth who looked like a monkey. Nature's insult is the worst insult of all.
I think my wisdom teeth have already come through, although one of them has a hole in the side of it. I can actually put my nail into the crack on the side of my tooth. Hmm...
Well, if you go to the doctor ya might get something stronger.. ask him for oxycodone - he won't give it to you but you might get the next best thing, hydrocodone. The ABSOLUTE best painkiller is Fentanyl, (N-phenyl-N-(1-phenethyl-4-piperidinyl)propanamide, but unless you're basically in constant chronic pain all the time you won't get that, it's rarer than fucking gold dust.
Mine are starting to come through, but am really scared of having them out which is likely as the x-ray I had done a year or so ago showed they weren't straight :bigcry: I am terrified of dentists!
Wisdom teeth suck, man. I had to have mine taken out in March and although they gave me loads of codeine, it still wasn't worth it. Actually it was...otherwise I'd still be in pain now.
I'm gonna buy some codine-ibuprofen tablets today, I really need something stronger than ibuprofen alone. Diamorphine would be good....
