Frustrated Pothead from India

Hi folks,

I am Rahul, a 20 year old guy living a pretty mundane life in Kolkata, India. Pretty much your average college going kid. You know, your old study-sleep-homework-eat-study routine. For the past year or so I have kicked up my old habit of reading and now am flooding myself w/ books. Lately I read bits and pieces of Kerouac, Kesey, Burroughs, Hesse and maybe the odd Ginsberg and have been awestruck by their ways of thought. My musical interests lie mainly in rock, stuff like Dylan, The Doors, CCR, Hendrix and newer bands like radiohead, Coldplay and Travis appeal to me. The whole idea of conforming to a specific set of ideals and confining one's thoughts have, of late started to disgust me and I felt the need to break free. One may say that I'll have to suffer the failings of an indifferent society and then subvert them. Till then I believe I am not intellectually and ideologically equipped enough to recognise my limitations. It is only if I know my boundaries can I be able to cross them over.

Due to my inherently naive nature I still have a lot to learn as concepts of Nietzsche, Camus and other thinkers like our own Morrison (Jimbo) gradually dawn onto me. Till then I'll still be scratching the surface. Oh yeah, and I occasionaly smoke pot too, and maybe swiggle a little beer now and then.

probably same age as u are... i used to live in kol before.. in salt lake... im here doing college too... like pretty much the same stuff u do... and well i guess am a frikkin pothead too... no beer... but vodka does it for me ... and i start first thing in the morning... pretty mucyhbstoned all day...
my music? zeplin, the stones, beatles, simon and garfunkel, stan getz, marvin gaye, doors, hendrix... i live in usa now... i study psychology... i read kafka, vonnegut, Nietzsche, heessseee and other idiots liek that... liek me... i write... and read... and i do well fairly odd things... other than biting my dog... just kidding...
i think that's it... yah... just thought it might be an interesting corrwspondence... i miss kolkatta alot... and i mean alot... just the heat, and walking out from school... and seeing the dirt and pollution... and it's soemthing!
