I had a bottle of oil of oregano, I was wondering if anyone here makes it? I can grow a lot of stuff, why not oregano to make oil from? Its really expensive but makes me feel really good, clean and energized when I take it.
Heres an excerpt from a site "Oregano is high on antioxidant activity which is probably the origin of the many health benefits of oregano oil. Oregano Oils thymol and carvacrol are believed to be the main sources of its benefits. The most widely known and spread benefit of oregano oil is its ability to cure mild stomach problems. It is also well known for its cough-clearing qualities. However, Oregano has many other benefits, among these: exterminating fungus, digestive problems, migrane headaches, athletes foot, sore throat, breathing problems, drandruff (and other skin problems)." Its a very strong sensation on your tongue when you take it and its hard to describe but I feel clean and energized when I take it. Probably because of the high concentration of antioxidants. Really expensive though, something like $25 for a small vial here in Canada, which is why Im interested in making my own.
Could you grow your own oregano and then drink it as a tea? I'm sure a bit old pot of tea has the same beneficial properties as and overpriced vial. Plus, you only take a drop, right? I would think (though I could be totally off), that a cup of tea would have the same properties. It just might be strong to get down.
to make an oil of oregano into essential oil would probably take hundreds of pounds of oregano plant,,, one could use a sunflower /oil base and cold process the oregano into the oils and use like essential however it isnt true essential oil,,,, but is better alternative to 25 bux a tiny bottle
